Thank you! I always do. (I'm generally in Canada a few times a year to stay with friends.)

Tonight I fly out to Canada for 3 days where I'll be MCing a friend's wedding.

I *could* have just packed a suit and probably got away with a carry-on case but apparently I've become the sort of person who takes 3 completely different outfits for a 3 day celebration.

(I lost my Bro-card at birth.)

Right?!

Don't *do* that to us, Freida!

It’s finally here!
You can now buy the trade paperback of ARCHAIC, about a badass single mom who’s put in charge of a sentient island and its mythological Inhabitants. Come for the Mesopotamian goddess of the dead, stay for the 9-yr-old who saves the day w/birdwatching skills.

Having ADHD memory (or just generic unbranded poor memory) is so expensive!

I keep having to pay to replace things I know are here, somewhere.

My favourite headphones cost me a little over £400, and I'd like to take them away with me in a few days. More likely is that I'll buy a cheap replacement.

In the spelling test she objected to being given 'abracadabra' to spell, as (she said) it's not a real word, it's an onomatopoeia.

Firstly, *many* onomatopoeia are real words, and secondly, 'abracadabra'... isn't one. Not even close. She'd know what an onomatopoeia is, and know that this isn't one.

Anyway, back to Margo Martindale.

Someone give her and Kathy Bates a series where they can be old and grumpy, together.

Maybe they solve crimes, or they terrorise the care home they're in, or they're criminal masterminds planning one last heist.

I don't care what it is. Give them a show!

The two juvenile leads were wonderful (thank god!)
Eva Jade Halford as Stephanie oozed menace. I would not be surprised to see her in a mainstream horror movie soon!
Callum Vinson as Elijah was perfect. An understated performance with real nuance; I believed everything he did.

2) The glorious Margo Martindale had to make do with the only character in the episode that was written poorly. I'd watch her recite the phone book, but she really deserves better. When you have a guest star of her calibre, you should always use her in a better-written role!

(3 of well, at least 4)

Two niggles, though:
1) The psychopathic kid got a word definition incorrect at the start. This was so out of character for this genius-level kid that I believe the writers didn't understand the word, making them less smart than the smart 8 yr-old they were writing.

(2 of 3 or maybe 4; not me!)

I just watched the Poker Face episode about the psychopathic 8 yr-old. The most fun one of the season, so far!

(1 of 3 or maybe 4; who knows?)

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

Good write-up, but note that this is a novel, not a novella.

I like Jordan's cereal.
What I don't like it seeing the claim on the box that it "contains 10 servings", when clearly it averages to around 3.5.

In other news, I *may* need to cut down on the size of my breakfasts.

That's an astonishing milestone. Congratulations!!!
