A female gray wolf was spotted in Los Angeles County over the weekend. This marks the first documented wolf in the area in at least a century.

With an estimated 60 wolves currently living in CA, her presence offers real hope for the continued return of wolves to the state.

Researchers estimate that the life expectancy for people forced to work in cane fields was mid 20s.

They were slaughterhouses. Being sent to one was functionally a death sentence.
Mortality rates were so high on sugar plantations during slavery that slaveholders used to coerce enslaved people working other crops like cotton with threats to sell them or their loved ones to sugar plantations.

That’s where the term “sold down the river” came from.

We can simultaneously say Bad Bunny is a citizen of the US and denying the existence of his citizenship is racist and xenophobic AND we can point out that his citizenship, and that of every Puerto Rican, is essentially a second class version as a result of colonialism and oppression to this day.

This is a good time to emphasize just how much the US still exploits Puerto Rico beyond just not letting Puerto Ricans vote.

First, we sold the island's sovereign debt to private equity, then forced them to privatize their infrastructure in order to collateralize that debt.

It’s important to be clear about how the protests in Iran emerged. They did not arise in a vacuum. They grew out of material conditions created by U.S. sanctions that made it impossible for merchants, shopkeepers, and ordinary people to carry on daily life.

Important 🧵about extrajudicial deportations of Palestinians from America to the West Bank. Not only is the U.S. breaking international law here, so are Israel (expected), Ireland and Bulgaria (the latter for allowing the deportation flights to land and refuel).
