Iran is now the 8th Muslim-majority country the United States has bombed and or invaded in the last fifteen years. So, from Obama, to Trump, to Biden, to Trump again. Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya, Syria, Pakistan, Yemen, and now Iran.

That "indeed" was doing a lot there.

Francesca Albanese: "The request to demilitarise and deradicalise Gaza... in the name of Israels security. Where is the security of the Palestinians, who have been attacked without respite for decades... where is the demilitarisation and deradicalisation of Israels society?"

I don’t know how you can stand watching this. Look at how tired she is

That’s my rant for today, sorry. 😂

It’s sad that an Islamic republic can’t simply be an Islamic republic—that it’s only ever measured by how Western it is, not by whether it’s true to its own values. While at the same time, suggesting that Iranian women can’t be trusted to change it on their own if they desire.

I keep reading this over and over hoping it’s simply a lack of sleep on my part, but I think he’s just insane.

I’m glad Mamdani helped shift the Overton window on how we talk about Palestine, but that doesn’t make his language beyond critique.
melangell.bsky.social
Collapsing everyone critical of what Mamdani said into a single group supposedly driven by “competing ethnonationalism” is insane. It delegitimizes Palestinian, Arab, or Muslim critics by implying they’re just as exclusionary as Zionists.

Is he really suggesting anti-Zionism is about replacing one supremacy with another or am
I just reading this wrong.

Israel violated the last Gaza ceasefire at least 962 times. This is all I will say for the moment.
melangell.bsky.social
The most likely scenario, imo, is its enforcement has been strategically scaled back, especially in Tehran.
What we’re seeing online are different people observing that same policy shift from different parts of the country or through different media lenses, but the law is still there…

From what I’ve pieced together elsewhere, the government paused enforcement of the new stricter hijab law, and some officials even said it’s “not the time” for heavy enforcement.

I mean, I hope this is true. The only website I see reporting on it is Iran Wire, and I don’t trust them at all.
melangell.bsky.social
Huh. This is not what I had read…

I have a lot to say on this ceasefire deal, but maybe I'll hold off for now.

Are we really debating whether or not Hasan is abusing his dog...? 🥴

In which Dr. Rad traces a consistent editorial pattern: every time an international body (e.g., Francesca Albanese, Amnesty, or the UN) confirms genocidal acts, Western media frames it as an “accusation” and immediately platforms Israel’s rebuttal. www.newarab.com/opinion/gaza...
Gaza genocide: 2 years of Western media stenographing for Israel
Western media has spent 2 years denying Gaza’s genocide, platforming Israel’s lies, & enabling ongoing violence through silence & distortion, writes Assal Rad.

lol, Erdogan is just like hummus. He'll blend into anything if it gets him on the table.

It certainly seems like Israel and Turkey are playing on the same team. 🤔

Dozens of civil rights and education groups, including the ACLU, CAIR, Jewish Voice for Peace, have opposed using the IHRA definition in law for this reason. Because the law authorizes state investigations, a single complaint could lead to scrutiny or punishment for teaching about Gaza.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed AB 715 into law. The law references the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism. That definition includes examples such as “claiming that the existence of Israel is a racist endeavor."

Whether in Iran or Venezuela, the objective for the U.S. is the same: force national economies open to foreign capital, sever alliances with anti-imperialist blocs, and crush any model of development that isn’t subordinate to Western finance. 💰

That's really it.

What’s unfolding isn’t a civil war anymore. It’s a basically a managed process of dismemberment. Every “security zone,” “buffer region,” and “administrative area” is a new border drawn by outside hands. This was always the plan: divide, exhaust, contain.
