Paracetamol remains an important option to treat pain or fever in pregnant women.

Following rigorous assessment of the available scientific data, we find no evidence that taking paracetamol during pregnancy causes autism in children.

Like our sister journals, you can also submit an additional language abstract at @dev-journal.bsky.social and we cater for non-Western characters for author names. Did you know Development also facilitates retrospective author name changes?

You can find the first JEB additional language abstract by Cameron Nemeth and colleagues in #Hawaiian accompanying their paper, The key to bubble-net feeding: how humpback whale morphology functionally differs from other baleen whales at

The mid-decade redistricting wars are unending. I'll be on CNN with Jake Tapper to talk about what we know and what it means. Is democracy dead? Is there hope? What can citizens do?

This Wednesday August 13, sometime around 5:00-7:00pm Eastern. Precise time when I know it.

In response to someone in our running WhatsApp saying they were the slowest in the group, somebody replied, “Comparison is the thief of joy…”

I’m going to think about that for the rest of the day

There’s been some “advice” coming from some quarters for scientists not to focus on DEI-related funding cuts.

I wholly reject this concept.

Cutting programs designed to reduce science and healthcare disparities is as detrimental to science as anything else, both morally and functionally.

Yes. This is an absolute crisis—and not a subtle one.

I had been doubtful that we were going to have a "this is the crisis moment" with Trump, as opposed to "everything about this is a destructive catastrophe."

But the Abrego Garcia case is the crisis moment.
