The way you'll bring this up and get a chorus of "Oh, I never thought of that" from cis people when it lives eternally in our heads....

Make no mistake, when the state imprisons a trans woman in a men's prison, it intentionally procures her for the purpose of having her raped. The statistics are extremely clear-cut and consistent in every jurisdiction where they have been collected. There is no way around them

The pope has condemned clickbait as a “degrading” part of journalism, at a private audience with global newswires.

"I urge you: never sell out your authority"

News agencies deliver a service which “requires competence, courage and a sense of ethics”.

This is HUGE! Please share so people with ME/CFS can learn about this incredible medical breakthrough!!

It not only helps develop a diagnostic test, but also points to immune and inflammatory changes to aid future treatments. After 80+ years of no treatment, there’s some hope, finally!!

So affordable housing, in the middle of a housing crisis, is deemed to be “red tape”??? You couldn’t make this up if you tried. Marie Antoinette wasn’t as dense nor as self-centred as these bottom-feeding parasites.. #auspol

Two good questions from Greens LGBTIQA+ spokesperson Nick McKim at Attorney-General's Dept Estimates on Tuesday.

And of course, there are no good answers to either, because the Labor Govt's position on both lacks principle.
#auslaw #auspol #estimates 🧵1/3
Senator McKIM: Faith based discrimination. In all states and territories, laws currently protect LGBTQI+
students, staff and clients from discrimination in faith based schools and services. Last year, the Australian Law
Reform Commission recommended similar protections at a national level. The government, in my view, quite
bizarrely and unreasonably claimed that it needed bipartisan support before moving forward with such a
protection at a national level, even though anyone observing the parliament knows the numbers would be there to
pass such protections at a national level without the support of the opposition. Is that still the government's
position? If it is, could you explain why you have taken that position, given the disarray in which the opposition
currently finds itself?

Senator McKIM: Thanks, Minister. On another matter, the Australian Human Rights Commission has
dedicated commissioners for sex, age, race, disability, children, human rights and Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander social justice but not an LGBTIQA+ commissioner. The government has also, as you'd obviously be
aware, appointed special envoys for antisemitism and Islamophobia. There's rising hate and violence against
queer folk—LGBTIQA+ people—in this country. And some subgroups of that minority population are being
weaponised in political and culture wars—including by some in this parliament, I might add. Why is the
government not moving forward with appointing an LGBTIQA+ human rights commissioner, and why does a
cabinet that has a number of portfolios dedicated, quite rightly, to the needs of minority populations in Australia
not include a minister for LGBTIQA+ folk?

"Attempting to damage social cohesion" cannot conceivably be a criminal offence or a Police matter; there are either indictable offences or not. I reserve my democratic right to piss acid all over fake colonial social cohesion. #auspol

How do senior public servants get terminated from a role and still get a $900k payout on the way out?!

There needs to also be more transparency about the reason for the former Secretary's departure.

This is the NDIS the ALP and @albomp.bsky.social want. They truly do not believe that disabled people are human, or should ever be seen in public.

Excerpt from the article that reads as below.

In it, the NDIA planner justified the lower support worker hours by saying: “The evidence demonstrates that you have the capacity to partake in leisure activities of your choosing at home independently such as watching TV, using your phone or reading.”

Labor's employment minister rep admits that payment suspensions "cause harm", but they're "an important part" of the (unlawful) mutual obligations system, because

"At the end of the day we want ppl to get off payments and find a job"

You know how there’s been this big push towards encouraging older people to do puzzles, cognitive games, and to learn new things to keep them from succumbing to dementia?

Wonder where that’s gonna go with the rise of “outsource your cognitive functions to AI, it’ll be convenient” culture
steveisdamages.bsky.social
Cognition is like strength. Use is required to not just gain, but maintain. The more thinking and cognitive work we offload, the duller we become as a result.

It's like deciding you'll use a mobility scooter without need and then figuring out a year later that you can no longer walk.
