Hello new followers! I'm a car-free mom in Berkeley, California. I do graphic design (for money) and housing/mobility advocacy (for free) though sometimes I get paid money to design housing/mobility related things and that's pretty amazing! Here's a few things I designed

I was at the Sierra Club during the period described in this article and although I have my criticisms, it gets the issues in the Club fundamentally wrong. A 🧵

Just when I think Berkeley NIMBYs are not the worst, someone proves me wrong. I would say shame on them but it’s clear they don’t have any
At a meeting about whether we're going to build housing for young families like us. An elderly NIMBY got mad at @alanakinrich.medsky.social for 'being distracting' by breastfeeding our baby in the reserved seats in the front. In case you're wondering who they think should be part of this process.

This is more of a reminder to myself more than anyone else but,

Worrying about your to-do list while you are doing something doesn't count as multitasking.

Went for a little shoppy shop in the Elmwood the other day. I didn’t spend as much as I would have, thanks to some of the business owners who showed me where NOT to go.

Man I really needed some good news this week. Yay! Thank you CA lawmakers
SB 79 — our bill allowing more housing near public transportation — just received final approval by the Senate & IS ON ITS WAY TO THE GOVERNOR!

This bill is a huge step for housing, transit & climate action. Thank you colleagues!

Something that baffles me everyday: drivers who are in a BIG hurry and don’t seem to have time to yield to a human crossing the street in front of them BUT manage to find the time to stop, roll down their window, and yell at said human. Does this happen everywhere or just California?

Why is the rent so damn high in LA? Simple economics: the demand for housing is extremely high and our housing supply is extremely low.

Unfortunately the draft bike plan for Berkeley is woefully inadequate for delivering bikeable streets for all ages and abilities. It needs serious help and we need to speak up. Read this op ed and email comments to [email protected]

Op-ed: Berkeley Bike Plan draft falls short. Speak up this week

Never thought of myself as a Cruise Person but I recently had the best time ever on one. Everything we needed was a 5 minute walk away and we never had to get into a car. We let the kids roam free at times.

That kind of Walkable Urbanism is so illegal it can only exist in international waters.

Art of the Day - a city street that prioritizes people and homes rather than parking for @yimbyaction.bsky.social!

Streets make up most of the public land in our cities, they can be used for so much more besides vehicle storage.
