Scratch that. Bitterly cold and disappointed.
I'm headed to Chicago next weekend and it looks like everyone is going to be in a good mood?

Or is there still more game?

I now completely understand why a majority of people never deal with their things and just die and leave it for someone else to deal with.

A quiet lesson my parents taught me at a very young age was to leave things for other people to enjoy.

Whenever we took a hike or go camping we were never allowed to pick wildflowers or leave a mess.

This reinforced that we live in a shared space and that it was important to treat it that way.

radicalism is often dressed in the clothes of the ordinary. in my tradition we call it not letting the left hand know what the right is doing, or going to your room and praying with the damn door closed

Maybe a year or so ago my husband told me about low-background steel.

I think about it a lot in terms of information integrity in the A.I./digital age and what we consider to be "uncontaminated data" equivalents now and in the future.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

The other amazing buy you can find there are their bags of mini avocados.

I don't know if the smaller ones are less prone to bruising, but we rarely get a bad one, which is a minor miracle when it comes to avocados.

Because it's an ethnic cleansing. That's what they're doing, and that's what they want. We need to be clear about this.
I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.
