we seem to have an entire country full of people that don't understand the very basic concept that decisions made by politicians affect the world generally. like they think there's something called politics and it's over there and then there's the real world here and they're separate entirely

Sooooo, I find out Tuesday if surgery is on as scheduled. Because Cigna and UNC Hospitals are still fighting, I might need to drive my ass to Charlotte to get an in-network option.

can i tell you the most incredible parenting hack. are you going to the pediatricians or another office and anticipating a long wait in a small exam room full of off-limits objects before the doctor comes in. bring each kid a flashlight and turn the lights off. they love this

The purpose of Thanksgiving dishes is to be a vehicle for gravy delivery.
Thus, macaroni and cheese is not a canon Thanksgiving side in my books.
However, we have lived in the South for almost 20 years, and youngest insists on having it, so I will be a good sport and make it.

It's been a sad day starting with my uncle sending everyone the Tatiana Schlossberg article with the note, "this reminds me of your mom and aunt," (when they were both dying of cancer the same year).
