Ah, soiled, defiled, oppressing city! It has listened to no voice; it has accepted no correction. It has not trusted in the Lord; it has not drawn near to its God. The officials within it are roaring lions; its judges are evening wolves that leave nothing until the morning.

Update: the laptop, at least, appears to be consenting to function. For now.
Things that have happened since Saturday:

- the church database on my laptop literally stopped working AS I was using it
- the laptop also stopped recognizing the printer
- the tire change and annual maintenance on my car took ten times as long and cost three times as much as I had planned for

I drove through them with my grandparents when I was 8. Much hilarity ensued.

Look it up if you don't believe me.

Bloody hell.

I knew the poverty line was absurdly too low, but the rest of the numbers in here are pretty damn shocking.
This is an insightful but deeply upsetting article about why everyone in the US feels poor, and why the current political situation emerges as a direct result.

If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Apple pie is bad. This is not really debatable. So is key lime pie, while we’re on the topic. Pecan pie is the 🐐 tho.

Why am I suddenly afflicted with tights-leggings-and-underwear-fall-down-itis

The only reason I am not seriously considering going back to 80s style bodysuits with snaps is that then the underwear would just continue to fall down on either side of the crotch part and would be even harder to adjust
