While the Kremlin tried to silence it, the world embraced it.

Composed in 1914 by Mykola Leontovych, the Ukrainian “Shchedryk” — known as “Carol of the Bells” — became a timeless classic heard in films and holiday ads worldwide.

War is cruel, ugly and unfair. Especially, towards the most innocent — children.

Thousands of Ukrainian kids have to study in shelters, because russia's war has made their classrooms unsafe.

Let's make their safe spaces nice and cozy this Christmas.

⚡️Ukraine has new data on abducted children taken to Russia.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Kyiv now has addresses for about 500 Ukrainian kidnapped children, while 1,880 have been returned so far, warning many more remain in Russia.

Above: front line on January 1st, 2025. Below: front line today. We heard many times of a "total collapse of the front", but in reality, Russian are still stuck in Pokrovsk or Kupyansk for year(s). They captured a ruined building here and some deserted village there, but not a single city in full.

Excellent 🧵 on how to transmit the truth under authoritarian rule. Good reason not to turn your back on the rest of the world, America: they have lessons for us.
With the 60 minutes leak, the many recent Epstein releases, etc., I think we are seeing the future of government accountability under authoritarianism:

Leaks, hacks, data dumps, releases of big document caches.

Journalists and the public will have to learn how to digest this stuff. 🧵

Just one small part of Russia's massive overnight missile and drone attack on the people of Ukraine - a Russian-Iranian drone targets an apartment building in Kyiv at dawn.

Russians are only intensifying attacks on Ukraine's civilian population.

Nearly all the victims are seniors — the oldest, an 89 year old woman.

A reminder that the kidnapping and forcible deportation of civilians is a violation of the Geneva Convention and a war crime.

Last night, San Francisco had a big power outage. And all the Waymo cars stopped in the middle of the street because they don’t know what to do without traffic lights. Don’t you want to be the person who always knows how to drive the car?
Who do you want to be? A person who knows how to fish or the person who asks AI for a fish?

This genius man is Mykola Leontovych. He wrote probably the most famous Christmas carol in the world - “Carol of the bells”. He wrote that in Pokrovsk, Ukraine, now a besieged frontline city.

Do you know why he was not able to give the world another similar masterpiece?

Russia is trying to frame Ukraine and the EU as "warmongers", but why is it always Putin who refuses any concessions and rejects all peace and ceasefire proposals?
In 2025, Russia has been framing the EU and Ukrainian leadership as "warmongers", who don't want to stop the war in Ukraine. This, of course, is an outright lie. In reality, it's the Kremlin who has rejected at least seven peace proposals in 2025 alone.

Don't be deceived.

My takeaway from this nice read: seems you could build a semester-long course about misinformation tactics by just using Peter McCollough and Andrew Wakefield's report on vaccines and autism. Bad scientific claims, misleading graphs/data, many bad citations, bad science advocacy into policy, etc. 🛟😷

Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House. If they wanted to lower your health care costs, they would.

The truth is: Republicans do not care one bit if your health care premiums explode.
