Going back to Mexico today where we’ve permanent residency. It’s a modern country with a female president and reproductive rights for women.
Today instead of watching the AFC and NFC championship games, we’ll be meeting friends for a pozole lunch and then going to a beisbol final between our local team, the Charros, and the Culiacán Tomateros. We hope to see the Charros play in the Serie de Caribe, which starts February 2. #lifeinMexico

DHS: Sure, you have the right to protest, but we have the right to send you home in a box if we don't like what you say.

Both sides knew more cold-blooded murders committed by ICE were inevitable.

Our political divide is defined by whether we believe this is a good thing.

Today our lunch group is meeting at a plant expo and then going for brunch in a courtyard afterward. I think we’ll pass…We’re meeting our foodie group this evening at a beloved Chinese restaurant we’ve been wanting to try. Good Asian food is rare here and I can only put on the feed bag once a day.

This evening we'll be celebrating an anniversary of sorts by dining at Xokol, one of the world's 50 best restaurants. This special place features indigenous ingredients and cooking techniques and diners are seated communally at a single long table. #lifeinMexico

The hubs & I are going to the American Society for a French lunch this afternoon and then this evening I’m going to try a new-to-me wine bar with my ladies wine group. Obvious it’s not dry January around here. #lifeinMexico

ATTENTION: DEMOCRATS. THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS OUT OF HIS GODDAMNED MIND. HE HAS ALL BUT DECLARED WAR ON THE PEOPLE OF EUROPE AND THE PEOPLE OF MINNESOTA.

YOU NEED TO GET RID OF HIM. NOW. AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY KNOWS IT, EVEN IF THEY WILL NEVER PUBLICLY ADMIT IT.

We’d planned to make a Costco run this morning so we can pick up something for our book club this evening but after we got these three pieces home yesterday we noticed one of them has some paint peeling off the canvas. Now waiting for the artist to pick it up and take it for repair. #lifeinMexico

Once we get our laundry done (always an ordeal) and clean up the house a bit we're going to go pick up the art we bought from the artist's studio. It's not a holiday today here. #lifeinMexico

Walked a little of the recreativo this morning on our way to the bank before the hubs got nipped by a pit bull while waiting to cross the street. Now fortifying ourselves with brunch from this neighborhood food cart which serves fried egg sandwiches every day until 2 pm. #lifeinMexico

Periodic reminder that Congress can at any time - and should today - end this.

The weather turned rainy and cool yesterday and our vegan lunch was so filling that we passed on steak night last night. This evening we’re dining with friends who’ve just returned from a month in Southeast Asia. Guess I’ll be watching the Niners game today on my iPhone somewhere in Guadalajara.

Trying a vegetarian Latin food restaurant for lunch today in hopes that it will make up for the steak night we're itching to have. We're either going to grill a picanha on our balcony this evening or visit one of our favorite Argentinian steakhouses, Res Publica (great name!). #lifeinMexico

Sorry, I can't look at any more news from the US this morning. WTF.

Yesterday was market day: fresh vegetables, fish, cereal, mole, and cookies. Lots of walking before a nice lunch of aguachile and micheladas. This afternoon I’m going for lunch at the American Society which is back after being closed for the holidays. No telling what’s for lunch today. #lifeinMexico

We've an issue with a family member in California that we need to address in person sooner rather than later but we really don't want to go back to the US right now. What to do...what to do? Oh! I guess we'll meet up with a favorite artist at his art studio and look at buying some art! #lifeinMexico

Without Peyton and Eli and the Manningcast, this AFC Wild Card playoff game would be incredibly boring, yet it's always good to see the Aaron Rogers the antivaxxer lose every time.

Heading to a nearby sports bar this afternoon to eat “bronto ribs,” drink beer and watch the Niners play the Eagles. After the game we can pick up some fresh tamales for dinner from a street vendor on the way home. #lifeinMexico

Both of these wild card playoff games today have been super exciting. It’s what we love about the NFL!

This morning we’re meeting our lunch group at the light rail and taking public transport as a group to Tlajomulco, a small town outside Guadalajara. Once there, we’ll shop at the tianguis, eat lunch at the food stalls and then join our group for dessert and coffee before we all head back to town.

It'll be tough to accommodate the hubs' desire to watch the Peach Bowl this evening while also getting dinner out somewhere and going to a nearby gallery where a friend is showing his signed screenprints, but we're going to try. #lifeinMexico

The ChatGPT ad where the young man makes pasta for his date makes me so sad. What? You couldn’t call your mom, your sister, a former colleague or neighbor, a friend who gets you? Your only interaction other than with this woman you’re trying to impress is with a non-human algorithm? Really? ::Sigh::

One benefit of starting the new year out feeling under the weather is getting a jump on #dryJanuary... Not sure whether to keep it going or just wait until the weekend to decide.

I’m meeting my ladies book club for lunch today at a Korean restaurant where we’ll discuss The Island Of Sea Women by Lisa See. I can’t stay cooped up in the apartment another day and I miss my girls. #lifeinMexico
