About 40% of SNAP recipients are children. Around half of ALL children in the country are covered by Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

And the so-called “party of family values” gutted both programs by billions of dollars.

Doesn’t sound very pro-family to me.

Alt text that that has humor and personality and sounds like it was written by the person who took the photo is great, but you gotta do that while remembering that the fundamental purpose is communicating what the image is.
Alt Text isn't the space for seo, secret notes, or inside jokes. It's for people to access media and any context or information that that media has.

If we gon make things right, we gotta find ways to make things right that don't leave us behind.
Some are suggesting you deliberately write inaccurate or confusing alt text, because they say this confuses AI scrapers that are analyzing images.

The purpose of alt text is to help people who cannot see the image. Deliberately misrepresenting the image is a gross misuse of alt text. Don't do it.

Whatever your feelings are on artificial intelligence, A.I. has nothing to do with the purpose of the alt attribute or alt text. To suggest that people deliberately write misleading alt text in order to "stick it to A.I." is going to hurt the humans who rely on it to access the web.

To be sure, there can be (and are!) bad actors in bad faith using A.I. for bad, impure purposes. No disagreement there. But your anti-A.I. stance does not justify or excuse the decision to deliberately misuse something that is intended to help disabled people. Abusing alt text will have real harm.

In other words, alt text and the alt attribute predate the slog of A.I. technology. Alt text predates every single social media platform. Alt text has been a standard and best practice for quite a while. Insinuating alt text is just a tool for A.I. scraping is ignorant of history and accessibility.

In 1999, we saw the creation of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), standards that still exist today. They inform many of the digital accessibility laws worldwide. One of the foundations and cornerstones of WCAG is that all non-text content needs a text alternative.

For decades, the alt attribute on the image element has existed for the purpose of alt text. Alt text is the text alternative that a screen reader reads when it encounters an image. This is the same text that shows up on the page when an image fails to load.

1. This is disgustingly racist,

2. There is a long history of nonsensical tests which are ment to force helplessness. They are always formatted in ways that the goalpost can be moved to reflect whichever result the proctor would like to give.
This is genocidal intent.

Remember, this is what a psychologist told Keira when she asked why she was being tested this way. They are desperate to stop more Inuit from existing in their precious "civilized" society.
"To see if you are civilised enough, if you can act like a human being."

Disgusting dehumanization of Indigenous people. Eye contact can't determine someone's ability to parent! Nor do any of the questions Keira talks about! FKU test also includes an ink blot test

What I love the most about dance, is that it's a communal practice.

As much as we can find movement within ourselves, that movement was inspired by the experiences we pick up along the way.

Zoey from #KpopDemonHunters obviously has rejection sensitive dysphoria—I'm 95% sure she's #ActuallyAutistic. That scene at the doctor's where he calls her a little too eager to please is a textbook RSD/fawn reaction. But if you haven't been taught to recognize patterns of abuse, it's easy to miss.
I know, rhetorical, but it's simple: We don't teach it.

I wasn't even taught "fawn" along with "fight/flee/freeze" in school. On a related note, I couldn't see that my father is abusive until after I'd learned about it.
