She/her fat black queer, disabled femme, leftist in my 30s, sometimes publicly slutty, sometimes publicly depressed. I talk about food and books a lot and I try to be kind.

Cannot be stressed enough that Black trans women were immediately sidelined in the early 2020s. Just pushed out of the convo immediately, even though transmisogynoir has always been an emergency and Black trans women are disproportionately targeted
Read this piece I contributed to in 2017. This piece, talking with the friends and families of murdered Black trans women, still haunts me to this day.

Pieces like this are just not printed anymore.

Rest in power
So far in 2017, 21 trans people have been reported as murdered. These are their life stories.

It is so hard and honestly, as incredibly kind as many people are some people are viciously cruel about it.
Some folks really think those of us who have to beg mutual aid would still be doing this bullshit if we had options and I hate that.

This is brutally spirit crushing.

Hey, so,

If we could NOT respond to the GOP healthcare “plan” with laughter at fat, disabled, and fat disabled people, that would be great.

I hate MarkyMarkwayne as much as the next person, but “take a look at your constituents” is punching in the wrong direction.

Love is real. Love is the way. Love isn't all you need, but it is vital to living well.
Being hopeful is not naive, it's necessary. This work is not about how much we hate capitalism, but about how much we love each other. It's about wanting better conditions for each other so badly that we're willing to dedicate at least some part of every single day to that outcome.

My public service announcement for today is that America’s Test Kitchen, which is infinitely better then NYTimes Cooking, has introduced a new gift link option that has no limit on how many you can share and each link lasts 30 days.

Which country are we talking about here because it surely couldn't be the one where marginalized people are constantly in fear and people need to crowdfund to survive while billionaires suck them dry.
I know “the world’s richest country is very rich and material life there is good” is a really boring take and doesn’t leave a lot of toeholds for mass populist revolt, but it is, broadly, pretty true

Notice we re all having to still beg for our lives for mutual aid. But everyone else gets to profit on our identity. Intersubjectivity among colonizers.
"but Grok said it's true" and yet you could've listened to Natives who have literally been documenting this for years without AI.

I am deeply outraged by this, I need an emergency Keylime pie, and also a heavily spiced sweet potato pie for my comforts.
This take is unhinged.
Apple pie is bad. This is not really debatable. So is key lime pie, while we’re on the topic. Pecan pie is the 🐐 tho.

Phone bill is about to go up and it’s time to order prescriptions again. $250 by next Friday is the goal if you are able to help. I am just real tired, but I really appreciate the support.

OK, but if someone ever got me the rainbow one I would love with them for the rest of all eternity though
Our ancient tome boxes are usually a bit spendy because we lovingly hand paint each of these! But they're gorgeous and perfect for hiding your dice or your treasures. Or candy. I really want to hide candy.

25% off is a steal! And we have 34 different designs!

in the last 1.5 years journalistic fact-checking has become significantly harder specifically bc of this, without touching all the other ways education and knowledge-sharing are under attack rn (book bans, censorship, media industry crumbling, etc etc)
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

Ok let’s try that Internet Timelord’s recipe for 5-minute pork bulgogi that absolutely takes more than five minutes, but it’s still pretty fast, easy, cheap, and delicious. Serves four, or two with leftovers! Start with thinly sliced rolls of pork belly. I got this for $10 CAD, so that’s $7 USD

Choir, let me share a thought with you.

If justice for child rapists disrupts society, then society needed to be disrupted.

Oh, he's a job creator? Oh, the economy will suffer? Oh, the uncertainty? Oh, our whole political system?

If it's built on raping children, burn it all the fuck down.

Amen.

Unpopular opinion: Yes, it's bullshit that Ghislane Maxwell is getting better treatment in prison than everyone else because she praised Trump. But it's much bigger bullshit that incarcerated people are treated so horrifically that toilet paper is considered a privilege.

Public libraries are fucking awesome, and something we should all be proud this country actually decided to do. With so much terrible history, this is an unmitigated good, and librarians are a pretty amazing example of what public service can be. Give them love.
Some people don't know this so it's worth saying out loud that Public libraries are free to use. And even if you have never used a library, the librarians at your local library will be very happy to see you and help you get started.
