A lot of things clicked into place for me when I figured out that a writing career isn’t a sprint but it ALSO isn’t a marathon. It’s a relay, a never-ending relay with different batons moving forward at different intervals & you gotta keep going & grab it when it comes to you & pass it ahead after.
A lot of people want to believe there's a secret formula to it, but it's really this.

Most things you read by me, I wrote 2 years before they were published.
I'm prepping for 2026 releases I wrote in 2024.
I'll be editing 2027 things that I wrote in 2025.
I'll be writing 2028 things this year.
The true secret to my long career: As a midlist writer hanging on to my career one book at a time, I can only control the work I do, not outcomes.
So I work: Drafting Novel W while waiting for edit notes on Novel F. When edits & draft are done, I'll return to the half finished & overdue Novel L.

Every time a Republican says "law and order" you need to translate that to "white supremacy." The president pardoned 1500 violent Insurrectionists after leading a coup, and defies Congress and the courts on a regular basis. His party couldn't care less about the law.

I had a neighbor who put out a sign that read “We are all Charlie Kirk.”

Well, I say we are all Renee Good.

Your rights exist only until an armed agent decides they don’t.

That should terrify every American regardless of party, ideology, or zip code.

It's not just that the new ICE agents are untrained and incompetent, it's that the people drawn to this job in this environment are people who get off on cruelty. It's a position tailor made for sadists. Kind, decent people are not applying.

Friends, if you have concerns about what the madman at the wheel is doing when it comes to foreign affairs concerning Venezuela, Greenland, Denmark & who knows who else, call or write your reps! Squawking about DJT & Rubio on social media doesn’t reach them.

There Are No Rules (Really) to making blackout poetry.

The words you choose don’t have to make logical sense in the way a sentence does. Instead, you’re free to create a mood, evoke an emotion, or stumble upon combinations that surprise you—or make you pause.
