Seeing parents standing guard/on the lookout for jackbooted thugs in the parking lot of a bilingual preschool = fucking grim, y’all.

Hi folks, I'm seeing a lot of "Eyes on Minneapolis" & "We support Minnesota" sentiment. Here's a tangible way you can help:

Trump just suspended federal funding for SNAP benefits to Minnesota. Second Harvest Heartland is an MN-based hunger-relief org.

Please donate what you can.

There is more than enough food for everyone. As one of the nation’s largest hunger relief agencies, it’s our job to make sure healthy, nutritious food gets to the households who need it. Every day, we...

A lot of things clicked into place for me when I figured out that a writing career isn’t a sprint but it ALSO isn’t a marathon. It’s a relay, a never-ending relay with different batons moving forward at different intervals & you gotta keep going & grab it when it comes to you & pass it ahead after.
A lot of people want to believe there's a secret formula to it, but it's really this.

Most things you read by me, I wrote 2 years before they were published.
I'm prepping for 2026 releases I wrote in 2024.
I'll be editing 2027 things that I wrote in 2025.
I'll be writing 2028 things this year.
The true secret to my long career: As a midlist writer hanging on to my career one book at a time, I can only control the work I do, not outcomes.
So I work: Drafting Novel W while waiting for edit notes on Novel F. When edits & draft are done, I'll return to the half finished & overdue Novel L.

Donated. It’s really easy to feel helpless in the face of such monstrous evil. Whatever bit you can do to fight against it, I truly believe it matters. Here is something that matters.

A friend in Minneapolis just sent me this video. Looks like thousands have come together for a vigil after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. This was my neighborhood for several years before coming to Portland.

I honestly don’t think there’s a single figure in American history who has fundamentally shifted the way I understand the world I live in more radically than Fred Hampton. once you know the story you can’t un-know it and you see it repeated everywhere
The FEDS drugged and shot Fred Hampton in bed.

Philly cops blew up a building in the 1980s and most people don't even know the MOVE bombing happened.

I think you're downplaying how normalized US death is.
If the DEA had killed 80 innocent Americans in the course of apprehending one drug dealer, there would be riots. But we are so ghoulishly indifferent to the lives and humanity of people abroad that it's barely even part of the conversation.

I’ve made year summary, had story selected, & made HM. All that’s left is my name on cover. 😉
