yeah to be clear I do not think this will work because none of the things that make it work, like actually wanting to abolish ICE or being able to hold the caucus together, are in place

They would absolutely have to hold the line on not passing a DHS funding bill, unless those "demands," are met indefinitely. And then it stops working if the Republican ever blink and agree to it, on account of the fact it wouldn't rein ICE/CBP in at all if they did.

The only context in which the Schumer/Jeffries DHS "proposal" is if it's a bluff, and they know Republicans won't call it, so it's entirely a posture meant to portray the latter as totally unreasonable maximalist lunatics on an issue where they're hurting. But that only works as long as it works.

The more you know about Gene Roddenberry the less controversial "he'd be one of Epstein's best friends" gets. Like yes Star Trek has always been relatively progressive for it's time but that guy was terminally horny and not always, indeed in his personal life not even usually, in a fun way.
