If I'm correct it's because Democratic electeds and consultants want to win by default, that is reach a political equilibrium in which the GOP are seen as too extreme to govern, and a plurality of voters have no choice but to elect Democrats. This results in sliding right and taking the temperature.
Think this is why KCD1 and 2 land for me. They convey the *feeling* of playing Henry so well, the stories themselves are respectively pretty simple or kind of convoluted. But that's in part because Henry is just some dope or, later, knows just enough to be misled.
"you have not played the game unless you've played the game" is one of my more annoying but unshakable opinions
the whole "don't play the game, just watch a video on youtube that will explain its story to you" is so disheartening because the issue of accessibility is genuinely really important but it's always just people who want to be spoon-fed nicely quantifiable information

I think Hollywood should try making Wing Commander again.
FX has announced a Far Cry anthology series by the creators of Alien: Earth and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. gameinformer.com/2025/11/25/f...

One good thing about Bari Weiss is that she articulates the worldview of the 0.00001% with total clarity, and thereby makes it obvious that they are dangerously out of their minds.

Today I learned that stalking a 17 year old girl, writing up a 400 page 'dossier' about her, falsely reporting her to the police and smashing her phone does not constitute 'harassment'.

One wonders what *would*.

The blog post is generally correct (poverty line is an outdated measurement that doesn't adequately capture actual cost of sustenance) but I'm charmed that this economist is discovering that long-standing left observations are true... and being precious about it www.yesigiveafig.com/p/part-1-my-...

I once knew a Federal bank examiner, and one time someone asked him why we had to KEEP inspecting banks over and over. He basically said every new batch of business school grads invents bank fraud from first principles.
AirBnB CEO calling it “vibe revenue” just 👨‍🍳 😘

The underlying cause of every bubble - debt masquerading as financial innovation - depends on not just short financial memory & speculative neophytism, but reinventing jargon of finance, like how each generation of kids has new ways to say same things.

I think the "centrist compromise" here would be something like, sure Abolish ICE but then we replace it with a new immigration enforcement agency that employs investigators and not thugs. I'm an ~open borders radical~ who'd hate this too, but it says something I doubt they'd even support that.
There appears to be massive grassroots support for Abolish ICE and basically no interest whatsoever from Democratic electeds.

A movie that takes place where you’re from

Learned from this prompt that there are no movies that feature the Battle of Yorktown, which is frankly bizarre.

Elon Musk donated $277 million to Trump so he could steal the federal government’s data, dismantle the nation’s infrastructure, and stop foreign aid from going to nonwhite people. It’s a quid pro quo breathtaking in scope, corruption, and damage, & completely unprecedented in American history.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

stupid goals arent as bad if you already have 3!
Even a great defense isn't safe from giving up stupid, fluke, or wonder goals; but if you can't score 2 you're going to draw every time you do.

Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.
