Five years ago, we all applauded nurses, public health, and health care workers every evening for saving lives.

Today, the federal government does not consider these workers professional.

This says everything about the state of US health care.

@bsky.app This thing where X includes where a poster is from is very useful. Also useful would be the ability to block posters from entire countries, like Russia.

Just to review, in the last week the President of the United States:

- Refused to condemn the rise of Neo-Nazis in his party
- Tried to block the release of further evidence he sexually abused children
- Encouraged the execution of Congressional Democrats

Those are just factual statements.

It looks like Lindsey Halligan misled a grand jury, prosecutorial conduct equivalent to committing perjury, in order to manufacture an indictment against James Comey for…

wait for it…

perjury.

Was watching SWAT. I loved the original as a kid. Got curious so searched up how many people a year are killed by LAPD SWAT. The stats are shockingly low. I guess training cops can work. I guess the show would be boring if they never had to shoot anyone, though it would be more realistic.

The moment when 30 million American's received healthcare (2010) The moment when insurance companies had to start covering preexisting conditions, young adults could stay on their family's policy and I could trust that the small print couldn't screw me if I needed serious medical assistance. 🇺🇸

Suffered a detached retina last week. For someone who reads for a living, this is "not good." But they injected a gas bubble and I lived/ate/slept with my head down and tucked in and it pushed the eyeball back against the retina so it could reattach. Then they zapped it with a laser a whole bunch.

I don't understand why Apple TV dribbles out episodes week after week. It's one reason I'm more likely to (re)watch old series, because all of the episodes are there already. But I know streamers track how fast people watch the show, so it undermines the success of new shows to only release weekly.

I’ve spent a lot of this rainy weekend catching up on the latest season of This Old House. It’s all about Asheville, NC and trying to rebuild after the flooding. Powerful images. Worth the watch.

Republican policies have cut thousands of jobs from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

This means veterans have LESS access to medical care and services.

Veterans fought for our rights. The least they deserve is access to the benefits this country promised them.

I’ve had the privilege of working with many vets. Thanks to all for their service and for telling us their stories.

For #Readers: The Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge is pretty darn great. It has the 339 books (novels, nonfiction, plays, poetry) that Rory of the The Gilmore Girls* is shown reading. I'm only at 23% so I need to get to steppin'.

* I've haven't seen an episode...yet.

Watched the first couple of episodes of PLURIBUS last night. Surprised there wasn’t more talk of free will and individual identity. Going to the Guggenheim? Who will make art without individual creativity? Never mentioned. Also, called it on the plane before they showed it.

I’m starting to think @gavinnewsom.bsky.social might have a shot in 2028. I think @kamalaharris.com does not. Newsom is proving he has a spine, which is sorely lacking among Democrats these days.
