I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.

What I begin to sound like when I read historical fiction 😆

Reading Boleyn Traitor and I always love Philippa Gregory but I had to laugh when the courtiers were describing Henry VIII as handsome. Now, I realize he might have been before his knee injury and blah blah blah but the usual image I summon when I think of Henry is less than flattering.

So excited for this!!
UNEARTHED has been a long-term project of mine: co-edited with Philip Fracassi, it collects together nineteen brand-new tales of ancient ruins and archeological horror. Unearthed will be published by Titan Books on 15 September. Hold onto your fedoras, and keep an eye out for more info!

BREAKING: I'm reintroducing my bill with @markey.senate.gov to end qualified immunity for federal officers—including ICE agents.

This bill is for Renee Good, Keith Porter, & everyone in America to know that when ICE agents break the law & kill our neighbors, they'll be held accountable.

White Americans keep looking to 1930s Germany for lessons on authoritarianism, but they ignore Black Americans who have survived it here.

Slavery, Jim Crow, and racialized state violence are forms of American authoritarianism.

This cat wants me to think she's dead. (She's not.)

I really get tired of people just accepting shitty things, “It is what it is.” NO! It doesn’t have to be and because of that attitude it’s become okay. Just stop.

Just recently found out that it WAS Education Support Professionals Week this past week. Shocking considering I AM ONE. My husband, who is also one, but in a different district goes, “Oh yeah, they did something for us every day this week.” Meanwhile, I had zero idea this was a thing. I’m pissed.

Publishers really don’t get it, do they? I would like to buy a book but I’m deciding against it and checking it out from the library instead (not a terrible option, really) because it has been defaced by a book club sticker. For some that might sell it for them, but not for me.

Today was literally the worst day of work I’ve ever had.

Going to see Grady Hendrix tonight!!!

I’m gonna be completely honest: one thing I do not understand are people who don’t read. And again, full honesty, I’m definitely judging them.

Parable of the Sower was scarily accurate about the current climate, economy and the general state of things. Parable of the Talents hit the nail on the head with the current administration. It’s surreal.

Finished Model Home by Rivers Solomon last night. They sure can write. Another great addition to haunted house horror but also with themes that everyone should read.

And if you haven’t already, read Sorrowland, as well. It’s been a few years, but it’s one that has stuck with me.

Finished Parable of the Sower today by Octavia Butler, will be continuing on to Parable of the Talents soon and I’ve added everything Octavia has ever written onto my TBR.

If you haven’t read it yet, I’d say now’s the time.

From Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler

Started Parable of the Sower last night and about halfway through. I’d heard what people had been saying about correlations to current times, but I needed to see for myself.

It’s staggering.

KING OF ASHES is dark
(okay most of my work is dark lol )
But KOA is a different.
I talked to Dennis Lehane once and he said when he wrote DARKNESS TAKE MY HAND he had to walk away from the shadows for a long time
I never felt that way until KOA
Just know if u cry reading
I cried writing it 😢

Finished King of Ashes by S. A. Cosby. Hard to find words to convey the way this book made me feel. Such a fantastic book.
