A ichthyoid figure—mottled, verdigris scales; sharp, cruel teeth; and unblinking eyes as black as the deep—holds a scroll in blood-soaked hands. On it is a butchers’ diagram for the tastiest game—man! In sea fret, the side of the squamous shape. Beyond her, out of focus, an aviatrix-cum-investigator prepares to give the menu some constructive criticism—with a gun! Rear shot of the piscine horror. Squesh the Deep One Herald points out all the interesting things you can see before being sacrificed to the Master of the Deep.

An automaton / mechanical diorama I've been working on for a while! A young aviator in her study room, dreaming of the next adventure. :)

Made from paper mache, wood & brass, painted with acrylics. Operated by turning a wooden crank. Still needs a few touchups but the mechanism is working smoothly!
