Nice to finally see this in person after the long campaign it took for more than just a small plaque to be present to commemorate the WRAF. It was lovely to see how much care and attention to detail of the members' uniform had been taken on the sculpture.

These people leaving still stops their role from being fulfilled, "voluntary" or not. Cuts only destroy the resource base, "voluntary" or not; not stabilising is happening.

That 'flagship' university is about to take a whole lot of water. And statements like this are harmful deflection.
For the Secretary of State to actually say 'I hope enough people will take voluntary redundancy to avoid compulsories, in our national flagship university on which the South Wales economy depends' is... very brave. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/jo-s...
Cardiff University job losses deeply concerning, says Welsh Secretary Jo Stevens
The university has blamed a funding shortfall for its proposals to cut 400 full-time roles and close a number of degree programmes.

I don't know what's worse. The sheer scale of this or the fact that they didn't have the decency to announce to staff via internal comms first. Heard from friends working there that staff literally found out when it was announced to the press.

At least our VC keeps us well informed.

So happy to see WRAF 1918-20 being highlighted at @nationaltrust.bsky.social Croome in Worcs - former RAF Defford! So often WRAF and its sister corps get overshadowed by their ww2 counterparts and their contributions are no less worthy of mention. #ww1 #militaryhistory #servicewomen

Royal Mail made people make deliveries during #StormDaragh today in South Wales. Just made them wait until the red warning had expired but we were under amber here. We have power cables down, 70mph winds, trees down & flying debris. People could be killed. Utterly irresponsible. #royalmail #shameful

Scientists, academics, researchers: We’re excited to share that @altmetric.com is now tracking mentions of your research on Bluesky! 🧪
There are already many articles for which there is more attention on Bluesky than on other comparable micro-blogging sites, meaning the academic community and the general public have clearly adopted Bluesky as one of its core places to disseminate and discuss new research.

A Place of Joy.
