I wrote about it in 2018, but it's an issue so fiercely defended by social silence that I found it impossible to get any traction. It's one of those occasions on which everyone thinks you've gone mad, as the alternative is to recognise that the system is mad.

He suffered no negative consequences. He later was made Emanuel S. Heller Professor of Law at the University of California, Berkeley.

You’re missing the point. Critiquing ecological damage from renewables isn’t the same as equating them with fossil fuels. It’s asking why every “solution” repeats the same pattern—erase habitat, externalize harm, call it progress.

I love that monologue so much. Wonderfully recited by Rutger Hauer....who apparently updated the original script to make it more cinematic. A truly great film!

Unfortunately it's fake Joe as confirmed by others. I shared it uncritically a while ago as it spoke to me of a life well lived on your own terms. Clearly projecting here. She came across as a warm & thoughtful lady behind the acting caricature we all knew & loved. May she rest in peace.

Such a sad loss. A wonderful man full of vitality and purpose in his love for the Irish language and the natural world it described. He wrote a beautifully written article on why he stopped flying in spite of his deep & enduring love of travel with moral clarity & sincerity. One of the best of us.

I'm so sad to read this. Manchán was one of a kind. An incredible writer and storyteller.

A warm and fascinating person with a great sense of adventure, brilliant mind, and a deep ghrá for our landscape, folklore, and language.

Ah ok. I'm already frustrated with vendor lock in that prevails with major US Tech platforms. Even worse when govt agencies are not standing up for citizen privacy rights given this huge power imbalance. Thank you for engaging Robin. I've been very much enlightened by these posts.
