This is a really lovely practice, and if you're looking for an easy New Year's resolution to make these times a little bit brighter, this one is solid.
One of my old friends (absolutely offline) was going through some scary stuff last year -- and I, helpless, live so far away. And so I asked what I could do to support her best.

What if, and just hear me out now, what if it really should not be on overworked individual faculty to adjust their approach to teaching to avoid AI cheating, but instead it should be dealt with at an administrative and legislative level?
None of these anti-AI assessment strategies y’all are promoting are at all reasonable for adjuncts or folks who teach asynchronous online classes or who have large large classes. Imagine adjuncting an asynchronous online class of 50 students and doing oral exams.

I should have been soliciting contributions! in an imaginary future where I get to write #othernetworks part deux, what would you add?
spent quality snow-eve time with @loriemerson.net's brilliant & inspiring "other networks," an asynchronous history of non-internet communications. like many readers, i imagine, it made me think of others that might belong & my contribution is... jukeboxes! shop.mexicansummer.com/merch/495898...

The present corporatized, monolithic, surveilled state of the internet is just one possibility out of many, and there is radical promise in uncovering alternatives: pirate radio to barbed wire telegraph, synthesizers transmitted over the telephone to encoded messages bounced off the surface of the 🌙

It's yet another plot by the AI cartel.
They are going to create a telepathic and ultra high speed communication network.
The plan is to have a Pasilalinic-sympathetic compass in each datacenter, worldwide!
