Nothing bad can happen, it can only good happen.

How is this not the top story on every news bulletin?
This has been happening for years and instead of doing anything to protect children successive governments have made the situation worse. This isn't just on councils. It is part of failings on a State level.

That final point is absolutely crucial.
The fact that the BBC has made serious culpable errors does not negate the point that there is a real and concerted right-wing media campaign to destroy it. Both points can be true at the same time and the campaign would not end even if the errors did.

Anybody who had a vision to bring American levels of political, cultural and social polarisation to Britain - whether their motive was clicks or cash, ideology, boredom or anything else - would make it their top strategic priority to abolish the BBC, or to damage and diminish it at the very least
Quick thread on the BBC and the political and societal significance of recent developments:

One of the main reasons the UK has historically been so much less polarised than the US, is that Britain has a shared source of information, consumed and trusted by most people regardless of their politics.

British media has lost the plot. The BBC ‘coup’ stuff is so wild. Somehow Newsnight turned into Dallas. I will never understand how Robbie Gibb was handed power. Today’s issue of the News Agents definitely worth listening to too.
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

New piece from me.

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

I absolutely hate it when Farage (rhyme with Carriage) is having a good day. The toady (who coincidentally resembles a toad) is determined to deliver his master the BBC on a platter. 🤮

It’s such a coincidence that all the issues that a bloke called Michael Prescott - a PR reputation spin doctor guy has highlighted in his dossier that has apparently caused the BBC to implode - are right wing shibboleths. I feel like I’m actually going mad.

I don’t believe anybody resigned over this? Just a misguided edit that upset the Orange Fuhrer then is it?

Those of who believe in the necessity of a public broadcaster with editorial standards were sold Tim Davie as a necessary bulwark to the right wing agenda of dismantling the bbc. Was he some sort of sleeper cell? In a world first I agreed w Craig Oliver & Nick Robinson just now.

I’m really sorry to ask this, but I live near a farm and the sheep in the field seem incredibly listless. One is now struggling to breathe and at least two have died already. Farmers tell me sheep are prone to keeling over, but this seems more than previous years.

This is an unfolding climate tragedy. Offers of help after the storm, ok, but what was needed was global alliance slashing greenhouse gas emissions. Due to lack of action, Jamaica has experienced dangerous sea level rise, making storm surges deadly. This is a climate cost. Right now.

Beyond crazy. Trump’s administration trolling the White House ‘major events’ timeline. Absolutely batshit.
I kid you not, this is currently what the White House's "Major Events Timeline" shows for the East Wing expansion.

So many questions that reform should be asked tonight. Will they be asked any of them though?
I see Reform UK are on #BBCQT again tonight, would one of the other panelists kindly ask

Is it fiscally responsible for Nathan Gill to make anti EU, pro Russia statements in exchange for bribes

But for Nigel Farage to make anti EU, pro Russia statements, without bribes?
