I think it's actually more insidious than this. Religion routinely teaches people there's meaning and holiness in community and connection with the rest of humanity, but simulation theory teaches that only a sacred few are smart enough to notice they're players in a computer game full of NPCs.
"We live in a simulation" is honestly just religion for people who think they're too clever to be religious. It's looking for meaning and order in the chaos of existence.

Deeply upsetting that the War Between the Land and the Sea is, in fact, very compelling

I haven't had to juggle three ongoing TV shows since I was a fuckin twelve-year old and there were 5 channels

Last night I dreamt a scene from Witches, but it was like watching a TV show.

Then Roman turned to me - REAL me - and goes "Ceci n'est pas une pipe bitch!" and slapped me in the face and it woke me up at like 4 am

I worry this is a sign Witches 3 is too meta. I've been thinking about it all day 😆

At tonight's karaoke session there was an abundance of Christmas sing-alonging, but also 3 of us in a row hitting K-Pop Demon Hunters soundtrack. While @jennicoutts.bsky.social and I bottled the Korean bits, @hexthervvv.bsky.social showed us how it's done!

Did a single card tarot pull this morning and got the card they put in the box to tell you how to return it if h there’s a defect

I have no idea how it got back in there after using this deck for literal years but I feel like it’s a terrible omen

This is why non-romance people need to read more romance, honestly: will-they-won’t-they is fine but it is not the same narrative as “they did and then they did again and then they keep going but eventually someone’s gonna find out and then they’re REALLY fucked.”
but this? shut the fuck up. guess what, my man, gorgeous young 22 year olds like to fuck. And queer people deserve love stories that are sexy and horny. a "chaste kiss" please be for real.

Writers love socialized books (libraries)
TAPS SCREEN

For like the zillionth time: Libraries are FREE for you, but WE still get compensated for our work!!
Just saw someone claim that authors who want to be paid for their work are "class traitors" because we "only let the wealthy" read our books, and I think I need to go into the woods to scream into the night for a bit.

It's $5, not your first-born child! I need that $5 for health insurance!

Leaves are glued to the pavement with frost.
The brown air fumes at the shop windows,
Tries the doors, and sidles past…

Listening to the Fellowship of the Ring at work and am overcome with cozy vibes

Also I love Frodo after weeks of walking like "Woah! I'm so thin now, if it keeps going like this, I might become a wraith!"

And Aragorn is sitting there like:
a man says no don 't do that in a gif
Alt: Clip from Doctor Who season 4, Midnight. The Doctor, unsettled: "No. Don't do that."

A lot of people genuinely don’t realize authors are paid when libraries get ebook licenses

We do get paid so please request our books from libraries
Do not steal books, I beg. Borrow from a library. Libraries lend e-books!
