Oh, here's a question for the tabletop nerds: I remember when GenAI was becoming A Thing for images seeing some artists like "please do not use this for TTRPG NPC generation, I have made a pack of stock character illustrations you can get here" - can anyone point to examples? (paid, obviously!)

My employer, the University of Leeds, left X almost exactly a year ago. I did think then they'd be followed by some of our peer institutions but so far, no sign of a rush for the exits. Still the right thing to do.

Even "LLM" is an over-broad catch-all term for the technology which ends up including perfectly legitimate use-cases for LLMs.

GenAI is what we should be using specifically.

Of the 31 games that won the 'now' votes, rank as many as you can. That could be just voting for your favourite, or a top 3, or 10, or just go mad and rank all 31.

I will NOT count ties
I will NOT count the same game in multiple ranks

Ranking just the ones I've played:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Final Fantasy X
Baldur's Gate 3
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Hades
Super Mario 64
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Dishonored

They can hear you calling them monstrous shitheads trying to destroy society and the economy and it makes them sad.

So you just know the message is to keep doing it more and louder.

People who grow to rely on AI tools to do their work will swiftly find themselves falling behind people who maintain their skills independently of AI and companies who rely on employees switching to AI workflows will swiftly find their employee pipeline withering down to nothing.

Keep hearing devs say that they only use ai for "pre-concept art"

There is no pre-concept art. There is concept art. That's where the idea starts. With the concept.

You're using ai for concept art.

This isn't a question of taste. Gervais is a troll who picks on people to punch down at and laughing with him is contributing to him doing harm.

You should feel bad about that at much as if you were landing the punches yourself.

"I got piled on for saying I found Ricky Gervais funny, wah!"

Good, finding Ricky Gervais funny should be a social tabboo. It should be embarrassing to admit, you should feel bad.

Art festival boycotts are effective because the festivals, despite all their protestations otherwise, need the participants more than the participants need them.

The reason they make financiers and the media so angry is because they're so effective and it interrupts how *they* use the arts.

Perhaps the surest sign of AI not being super intelligent is the amount of tailored scams targeting the finances of authors, which is as rewarding as trying to mug a seagull.

I watched the new Gerva1s special so you didn't have to but there was little point writing anything about it coz it was the usual lazy, tepid stuff...underwritten, paranoid and more hollow than ever when he insisted it was gonna get him cancelled.

It has Golden Globe now and Wanda Sykes is great.

that's gonna be a hard one to take if you're a vulnerable narcissist like ricky gervais.

Hi - there's a pair of people who deliberately added me to their list because they were angry at me for putting them on mine because of their repeated unrepentant use of GenAI images.

Could you give me the tag so I can check it's the same people?

There's one episode in particular which looks to be leaning heavily into that nasty nihilistic feeling and then spins it last minute which has me thinking they get the need for some sign of hopeful optimism

That shifts in time, I think by the end of the season and especially into the second season it's a lot better balanced

It's interesting when the conservative-coded "mean girl" type persona can be played by two people with very different politics (Syndey Sweeney and Sabrina Carpenter).

It think there's credit due there to Carpenter as an actress where, like Ariana Grande, you can tell she knows this stuff.

That contempt might well have been justified and a message that audience needed in the 90s - but I'm not that audience, so I only ended up finding it incredibly and unnecessarily unpleasant and wrenched me right out of the world.
