Weird that regular (caffeinated) Irn Bru is available without artificial sweeteners outside UK... Well, last time I was abroad, anyway. (Nova Scotia, 2019; brought back some multipacks, but all finished long ago...)

Obama has been getting a lots of fond memories, too: but his record on US overseas aggression is pretty poor. Most notably the *extrajudicial killing* of CIA-trained former asset Osama bin Laden, & disappearing of his remains.

He's said that Corina Machado called him to say she was accepting the award in his honour.

I'm old enough to remember when almost everyone smoked, knowing just how bad smoking was for health. A lot of people still drink well above recommended weekly limits, even though they are not physically dependent on alcohol. I think about this a lot when I think about Covid.

COVID cases hit 51 per 100,000 (Sept 29–Oct 5), ten times higher than in February.

Hospitalisations rose from 0.9% to 1.1%. Of 790 admissions, 635 were aged 65+, 110 aged 15–64.

Vaccination starts Oct 14.

I was also glad the last time this happened.
I wasn't surprised when Israel unilaterally broke the terms of the agreement.

I wish I could be optimistic.

A temporary ceasefire is better than nothing, probably. But it's not the justice that Palestinians deserve.
