oh man I feel this so hard but for me it's when people call me "girl" and they always mean it well but...

like in uni I had a teacher tutor and he was very nice genuinely but I had this GUH reaction when he said "[Lune] is a very smart girl"

like u know the intent is to be nice and all but, GUH.

Sakuya is a fox demon; she has ears, a massive tail, and sharp, claw-like nails. She's wearing a top underneath a hakama top that hangs open on their shoulders, with a giant fur trim going up over the shoulder and around the back. Tying it together is an obi, and they're wearing hakama pants and tall, one toothed geta. The design on their kimono depicts spider lilies and she has a spider lily tattoo on her torso.

There r already similar systems on other platforms (closed caption submissions for videos, for instance!) so CLEARLY this can be done!

I think it would help so many people, especially since alt text is also beneficial for artists as i believe it helps with search keywords too

Like actually this is the kind of stuff that bsky should get the fuck on, because how come it's the responsibility of the users when the issue lies with the system.

I'm really happy with alt4me and that people have set up a community around it, but really it shouldn't be our job.

Like I've mentioned, for example, community alt text that people can make submissions for would be a really nice way of helping everyone.

One has to tackle this issue at its root, which is the way it is set up, instead of expecting one group of disabled people to make sacrifices for the other.

To prevent further misunderstandings...

I'm saying: Use alt text when you can, don't bully or ostracize those who can't, and pressure coorperations and websites to look into better ways to make providing alt text more accessible for everyone.

It's important to continue talking about this because there are many people on Bsky, who will refuse to engage with art that has no ALT text.
Meaning disabled artists who, for one reason or another, couldn't include it will get less chances to make money to afford a meal. Does this sound accessible?

Got blocked cause I tried to educate someone about the ableist nature of their POV, cause I thought they cared about disabled people. My bad, I guess.

Friendly reminder that there are other disabilities and villainizing people for not using ALT text isn't going to help anyone.

- is with the platform, and that they should make supplying and writing alt text more accessible. With alt4me it is literally the users taking it into their own hands, and as you have mentioned, it adds an extra step.

Just like a toggle that says "allow alt text submissions"-

-ability to add alt text after. I'm a perpetual yapper and typer and this stuff is easy for me, because my problem is remembering, so I ask it to prevent me from posting if i don't. But there's NOTHING for those who can't.

People seem to think that I'm scolding people for not using alt text when all I want is to share resources on it.

I think your way of phrasing it definitely gets it across really well, and I *wish* something like the below mentioned "community alt text submission" stuff was possible, or even just-

I'm still trying to fill at least 1 or 2 slots for the second half of the month, here is some commissions I have completed!
