There is an easy explanation about why the popularity of digital ID fell following the police announcement: disinformation.

So much disinformation was immediately shared, even by many usually sensible people.

I feel like a broken record, but I have to keep saying it over and over again: a farmer bailout won’t do much of anything because the market is gone. There will be no incentive to plant next year.

The bailout will help payoff farmer debt to the banks. That’s all.

Quite ironic that many of those opposing the digital ID card want to join the EU. It's highly likely, given their use is spreading there, that having them will be a condition of entry.

There will be NO requirement to have the digital ID on you at any point.

The ONLY mandatory element to it is use it within a Right to Work check.

Worries over involvement of the Blair's or Palantir, lies about its uses, how it would work, the cost.

All easily debunked if you read the official info released about it. But every other post online was fear mongering and spreading this disinformation in the days following the announcement.

Having A form of digital ID is now a requirement of being in the EU.

It's why, when Labour announced we would be getting digital driving licenses, I posted about how it technically and quietly keeps us aligned with EU regulations...

I’ve been saying this for ten years now but possibly not often enough: Ask Them What They Think The Words They’re Using Mean. And then ask them to name the ‘problematic’ people. We had ‘sovereignty’, ‘laws’ & ‘unelected bureaucrats’. The US now has ‘Antifa’, the ‘radical left’ & ‘insurrection’. Ask!
