i took the longest time ever to make progress on my interests, because i failed to understand that my procrastination was a fear response that came with encountering something unfamiliar. understanding that and sitting through the discomfort was the most important thing towards actually starting.

but it's still stark how quickly they can go from "cars are dangerous, and lethal force is appropriate if someone so much as drives in our general direction" one week to "if you stand in front of our cars we can just keep driving into you" the next week
