Look, there's a lot going on right now but our friend has been detained by ICE for 29 days now. It's a drop in the toxic bucket of fuck that we are all currently swimming in, but please don't forget about him and others like him who committed no crime other than being brown. His kids miss their dad.

Frustrated writers may find serenity by remembering that publishing success depends less on craft or artistry than “relevance,” which can mean a hundred things. And those who game the market—“But is it relevant?”—might not enjoy their work as much as you, writing from the heart.
