I loved talking with @rachelhowzell.bsky.social, @almakatsu.bsky.social, and @alexsegura.bsky.social about what happens when writers jump genres. The risks, the surprises, the freedom. If you’re interested in how reinvention fuels craft, check out the article: www.thebigthrill.org/2025/11/cros...

Today at the market a woman told me my shirt was cool and a man told me my shirt was obscene and they are both right. I am Schrödinger's Bisexual!

Day 24 #NoirvemberChallenge Best #filmnoir poster, including international prints. "Best" is subjective but here's one of my personal favorites, a Japanese tatekan poster for The Street With No Name. (Thanks to the eagle eye of @keithrainville.bsky.social for this find!)

Which Film Noir actor stole the scene(s) they were in? @ladykdesigns.bsky.social stole my answer with Thelma Ritter and I already used Hope Emerson, so how about Timothy Carey?

A movie that takes place where you’re from.

Day 22 #NoirvemberChallenge Favorite Film Noir musical performance. I'm going with Veronica Lake's kinky rubber "fishing" number in This Gun For Hire.

Day 21 #NoirvemberChallenge Favorite Film Noir not made in the USA. I've already listed some of my favorite foreign flicks in other categories (The Bitter Stems, Black Gravel, Pale Flower) so this year I'll go with The Housemaid. It's deeply weird and pervy (complimentary) and you should see it.

Rain in Los Angeles: a whitenoise symphony and a scrubbing of the world, gorgeous, refreshing. Let's open a window.

Rain in St. Louis: The cold of a fished-out corpse, all is dim, a darkening of the world akin to a final glaucoma across the eye of god. Let's find out what a gun barrel tastes like.

In a world in which people with too much power and influence desperately need to be told and to understand when they are wrong, we are suddenly all inescapably drowning in sycophancy machines.

Day 20 #NoirvemberChallenge Favorite Film Noir Gambling Scene? This year I'm going with Pale Flower. It doesn't just have a single gambling scene, the whole damn flick is about gambling, addiction and the existential emptiness beneath it all.

Day 19 #NoirvemberChallenge Favorite Boxing Film Noir. Tried to come up with something more obscure, but I keep coming back to my all time fave, The Set Up.

A decade ago, a FB "fan" sent me faux nudes of my face photoshopped on an adult star's body. It was incredibly disturbing & v real looking. I left FB bc of that & other creepy experiences. Scary as it was, I was a mature woman in my 30s. I can't imagine what it'd be like for teen girls. We need laws
I wrote about this oncoming apocalypse in my Playboy piece - NOBODY is prepared for what easy deepfake technology is going to do to us all.
This is a nuts story. An AI chatbot and image platform left millions of images exposed. They show what people are actually using the AI for: taking random women's yearbook, graduation, and social media photos and making super realistic hardcore porn with them

Day 18 #NoirvemberChallenge Favorite Film Noir MacGuffin. There are plenty to pick from, but this time I'm going with the top secret microfilm in Pick Up on South Street. And, since I couldn't find a photo of the canister itself online, please enjoy Jean Peters smoking in a bubble bath instead.

Day 17 #NoirvemberChallenge Favorite Film Noir duo.

It's been a sub optimal day, so I'm sticking with my go-to answer for this one. Everybody's favorite gay hitmen, Fante and Mingo from The Big Combo. "I can't swallow no more salami."

... and yes, everything DOES have to be gay, thanks for asking!
