They knock her for being a bartender. I think that is her secret.

Why do I get the feeling, sir, that AOC is the only member of the Squad with any real staying power, in terms of strategy and just being a normal person?

SOME PERSONAL NEWS! Cannot wait to get A HELL OF A DRINK out there in 2027. Chris Elford is a dear friend and a genius bartender. His horror movie inspired cocktails are fantastic. Every Sasquatch book is gorgeous. Halloween will never be the same again!

I've been wondering when the definitive bio of Jack was coming, and I can't imagine a better author. Congratulations! (Also, fun fact: read about the deal underneath yours in today's email. Howdy, neighbor!)

Feared this would happen, but hearing the news is still a gut punch. This is where Rosemarie and I co-hosted Noir City Seattle with Eddie Muller for years. Thinking back on the last films I saw here, 4K restorations of THE CONVERSATION and LE SAMOURAI. A fitting way to bring down the curtain.

My favorite thing about baseball is its unparalleled literary history.
My second-favorite thing about baseball is how failure is the norm and nobody can succeed through force of will.
My third-favorite thing about baseball is this:

there are not a lot of sports where a person the shape of Alejandro Kirk could be playing at the highest level at the end of the season

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

I do not understand my enthusiasm for the TRON movies, but I accept that it exists. I can't wait to see TRON: ARES and I would be the one person Michael Sheen refers to in this interview who tells him how much they love TRON: LEGACY. Especially his performance. www.vulture.com/article/mich...

In the roughly 80+ years since the invention of batting helmets, America has been involved in one world war.

That’s the same amount of world wars they participated in over the previous 160+ years.

So batting helmets cause a ~100% increase in world wars.

Just a lil idea for the next google ai ad.

One of those days when I'm seeing my college roommate's name all over the news - not a bad reason, he just has a job I don't envy - and feeling both lucky and like a complete failure.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

This is a question from a screenwriter who wants to know if it's okay to have AI write entire scenes for him. My answer would be exactly two letters long, which I guess is why I am not an "ethicist."
