Just didn't find the central dilemma of House of Dynamite that compelling. Obviously you wait to figure out who nuked you before blindly retaliating! The consequences of getting a retaliatory strike against Russia and China wrong are so much worse than the risks of waiting and seeing.

The key difference between 1st and 2nd degree murder under Illinois law appears to be that for 2nd degree murder, the defendant unreasonably believes the killing to be justified. That seems very much like a law that exists to protect the cops.

The inciting incident in this movie - Tavington killing Benjamin Martin's son - is something our military, our media, and most Americans wouldn't bat an eye about if it happened today. "Fighting age male shot while attacking U.S. servicemembers in the field" wouldn't even get reported.

Guessing that Whitmer's self-abasement is because Trump said he wouldn't pardon the guys who tried to kidnap her as long as she was nice to him. It's the only way to explain why he hasn't pardoned them in 9+ months despite their convictions being such a right wing grievance.
