Same for autism. It's not more common. It's just that they're not being institutionalized and hidden from society, mocked as "odd" or "difficult". They actually have access to diagnoses and therapy and medications (although it's still arguably too difficult to get a diagnosis and therapies).

If you think this is a rare extreme...it's not. It's actually very very common. I've seen it happen myself. This is how people in positions of power today got there. Because of people like this. It is awful and wrong, but not surprising to those of us who spent our lives seeing it happen often.
