'AUTUMN ON LOCH LEVEN'
.
Golden autumn trees reflect on the still waters of Loch Leven as a lone canoeist glides beneath snow-capped peaks and soft Highland skies.

A photograph of a calm Highland lake surrounded by golden autumn trees, their bright leaves mirrored in the still water below. A single canoeist glides quietly across the loch, appearing small against the backdrop of tall, snow-dusted mountains in the distance. Above, a soft morning sky adds to the sense of peace and stillness in the scene.

The #pars centre half Jerry Chilokoa-Mullen scored the final goal in Scotland's Under 21 twelve goal demolition of Gibraltar. One of Dunfermline's many young players who have the potential to develop into top class players.

Excellent summary of why Maria Corina Machado fully deserved to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Anyone who watched the recent tv series of Michael Palin in Venezuela would have seen all the efforts by the corrupt President Maduro to promote himself and suppress opposition.

60 seconds on María Corina Machado and why her Nobel Peace Prize win really matters 👏👇

Fleeing your home and building a new life in an unfamiliar country can be incredibly tough.

To mark Mental Health Day tomorrow, we've launched a new resource to help people seeking safety in Scotland find mental health services and support. scottishrefugeecouncil.org.uk/wp-content/u...

Fuel poverty, overcrowding, and ageing homes are driving damp and mould across Scotland.

Tenants are doing their best in impossible conditions but are being blamed for causing something they can't control. The system must change! #WorldHomelessDay #HousingEmergency

If you go back through my posts you will find quite a few photos of Barney. He is coming up to seven years old.

Suspected it was San Francisco from the winding road in the foreground. I live close to the three bridges over the Forth so the historic Forth Bridge, the Forth Road Bridge and the new Queensferry Crossing. If you are not familiar with them then do a search as there are many beautiful photos of them

Our manifesto calls for investment in prevention, early intervention, community-based support and taking a public health approach to stop people from reaching crisis in the first place.

Ending homelessness is possible if we act together.

Today on #WorldHomelessDay, we’re proud to launch our Manifesto for Ending Homelessness in Scotland.

Homelessness is not inevitable – it’s the result of systemic issues that can be prevented.

Lots of great photos of birds on Bluesky but this one by Rosemarie is just stunning with the egret captured in flight and its reflection in the water. #photography

The NHS and social care would cease to function under the government’s new rules to be imposed on foreign staff.
In the most explicit attack yet on Labour’s proposed restrictions on overseas workers, the RCN described the plan as “ignorant” and “pandering” to Nigel Farage’s Reform UK.

Not just NHS.
That's the thing with anti-immigration policies, as well as harming migrants themselves, they harm everyone. Undermining infrastructure and industries inevitably causes a decline in services and additional job losses for non-migrants as a knock on.

This is a brilliant photograph - it contains so much of interest from the urban landscape, the sky clouds and sunset, the bridges over the river in the distance to the winding road in the foreground. Another contender for my "this would make a great 2000 piece jigsaw" comment. #photography

Congratulations to María Corina Machado the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize 2025.

“She is receiving the Nobel Peace Prize for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.

Same mission - new home. We're marking #WorldHomelessnessDay with the launch of our new website and evolved brand.

Youth homelessness is not inevitable, through bold-thinking, cross-sector collaboration and targeted support, we can end it for good.

Day 5 of #ChallengePovertyWeek and a reminder that last year a shocking 1 MILLION people in Scotland faced hunger due to a lack of money. #WeDemandBetter.

Everyone in a rich nation like Scotland should be able to afford the essentials.

4, Housing: Dedicate a proportion of Scotland's house building budget to community living and supported housing options tailored to the needs of those most vulnerable to homelessness

"Homelessness is everyone's problem and has long last consequences. It is time we saw it as a public health issue."
maltapar.bsky.social
2, Understanding: Collectively build a longer term approach to the monitoring and evaluation of homelessness prevention that enhances the understanding of its contribution and efficacy

3, Support: Set up a Prevention and Early Intervention Fund which awards grants to services for a min of ten years
maltapar.bsky.social
This #WorldHomelessnessDay @cyrenians.bsky.social manifesto has the following four asks, seeking a public health approach:

1, Data: build a fuller, more accurate picture of homelessness in Scotland by improving data collection methods
maltapar.bsky.social
@cyrenians.bsky.social strongly believe that Scotland does not need new solutions - what it needs is consistent investment in - and evaluation of - what we already know works. Our asks are from our own experiences running services which offer prevention, early intervention and support into a home.

This #WorldHomelessnessDay (10th October), @cyrenians.bsky.social is proud to launch our Manifesto for Ending Homelessness in Scotland — a call for action to tackle the root causes of homelessness and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to build a safe, stable life.
