So apparently there's a decent amount of interest!

✋ if you work in this space and would like to be added to a starter pack

Would love to continue raising awareness of these careers and key needs in transit
marcebuna.info
Any interest in a #transittech feed and/or starter pack to make sure the signal is stronger for real people doing real work to make transit ops and rider info better and overpowers the noise of gadgetbahns?

CC: DC friends and folks in and around transportation.

This is easily one of the most fun (un)conferences I’ve ever attended. I’m looking forward to the NYC edition later this month!

I literally owe my career in transportation to TransportationCamp, and helping organize the revival of TransportationCamp DC is the least I can do. If you're interested too, please express your interest!

Thank you all for your work! Certainly appreciate seeing y'all responding to things on reddit, too!

This is extremely good news and I would encourage anyone who is interested to sign up for updates and attend if you can. (That goes for any city, but especially DC right now after the hiatus last year.)

Every piece of maintenance infrastructure is being upgraded to accommodate the Type 10s since they're longer and the first cars with more than 3 sections so no, it's not necessarily that - maybe just maintenance preference for convenience/'quick access' for troubleshooting on the road?
marcebuna.info
Yeah I wonder how much of that is really a drive to have more equipment share space inside the environmentally controlled interior rather than an actual lack of space to accommodate them above or below the passengers cabin
marcebuna.info
The cabinets with access doors in the pics I just posted in another thread are just that. I don't know what's in there but I remember hearing feedback from mechanical about preferring some systems be accessible easily without a ladder or bringing the car to a catwalk for overhead maintenance
marcebuna.info
The image above is facing the center section (mocked in the farthest section)

Here's another view from inside the truck section and facing forward to the cab respectively — tbh the CAF truck section seating arrangement you're sharing still looks better than what got presented in our mockup
marcebuna.info
There may have been other maintenance-driven design at play here – i.e. make those components in the vehicle behind those access doors available without having to access them overhead/via catwalk
marcebuna.info
I don't know honestly. I don't think raising the floor was the problem but:
- having enough head clearance for mounting the seats up a step as mentioned on our existing center truck low floor + bogie sections
- having a place for the mechanical to be mounted in the walls in that mockup
marcebuna.info
That's literally what CAF did on the Type 9 center section to replicate the design of the Type 8s, however the ceiling is lower to accommodate more equipment on top of the vehicle

See the seating arrangement in that post I quoted for an example of how that same constraint is resolved elsewhere
marcebuna.info
Our Green Line Type 10s will be localized variants of CAF's Urbos LRVs... When I see these elsewhere, I'm constantly left wondering how we landed ourselves with such an insane center & front section seating config... Did we tell CAF 'latitudinal seating only'?!

Interesting... Is Osue a vendor and what does PSD mean?

Thanks for correcting! I had been taught to *never* cross a double yellow except in emergencies

I'll say that the movement feels dangerous & the safer/faster move to North Station is a left sooner onto Valenti Way — turning here, you eventually have to make an uncontrolled left on Causeway
marcebuna.info
I mean the double solid makes it illegal. Is it MUTCD for there to explicitly be a 'no left' at all intersections with prohibited turns? This is also very close to an intersection where lefts ARE allowed so a left turn prohibition sign on the right would have to be sufficiently close to be confusing
marcebuna.info
Where do you put it when people turning left are looking left at oncoming traffic and are already positioned in the left lane and far from the right side where a sign typically would be
marcebuna.info
OH Are these all of the same CAF Urbos 100 cars?
marcebuna.info
Can we add flex posts or something here at Medford St on N Washington St @boston.gov @streets.boston.gov?

There are constantly drivers making illegal lefts like this car, rushing against oncoming traffic, often dashing in front of my 111 bus as fellow riders & I are trying to cross Medford St

“South Shore had been a landing spot for many Venezuelans when tens of thousands of migrants were bused from the Southern border to Chicago and other Democrat-led cities.”

How traumatic for those poor people to be used as a political pawn not once, but twice. Absolutely awful.

Why do American construction sites always look so messy and chaotic but whenever I've seen a street reconstruction in Montréal it's been fairly tidy like this?
