NEW from me - DC Republicans passed a bill that blows holes in state budgets, cuts health care and food assistance.

Maine lawmakers don’t have to accept this. They can undo many of these harms, and tax the rich to do so #mepolitics

NEW from me -

When is a surplus not a surplus?

When the president is throwing the economy into chaos;

When DC is pulling back funds and imposing new costs on states;

When tens of thousands of Mainers are facing new hardship on top of existing struggles #mepolitics

#MEpolitics: To be clear, I’ve heard from multiple state legislators that have said, in no uncertain terms, that progressives should not allow Gov Mills to use this as a political win to help her Senate campaign—she has *not* been an ally, she has been a barricade.

And my experience backs that up.
#MEPolitics: Gov Mills—as has been the case with most progressive legislation adopted under her tenure—had to be pushed kicking/screaming into doing the right thing.

Wonderful work from many advocacy organisations and state legislators, including my Rep. Ambureen Rana, and @mainepeople.bsky.social!
Some good news. Gov Mills won’t veto the bill that stops local Maine law enforcement working with ICE/CBP. And she’ll (finally) repeal a LePage executive order that required enhanced cooperation with those those agencies. #mepolitics
