Thank you everyone for a wonderful World Fantasy 2025. A convention takes the committee, volunteers, artists, authors, editors, jurors and many others. Our special thanks of course goes to our guests: Suniti Namjoshi, Vincent Chong, Nick Landau, Vivian Cheung, Joanne Harris and Ramsay Campbell.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 4: There’s nothing wrong with writing fluff. Fluff insulates. It protects. It cocoons us from a world filled with sharp edges and sudden fires. It makes a warm bed to sleep on; builds soft ramparts; saves lives.

What a whirlwind of a week! I'm so grateful for the many very open and friendly authors I have gotten to meet and catch-up with this week! There's too many to name, but you know who you are. You are all gems!

I've just been introduced to the My Immortal goth Harry Potter fanfic.. What on earth? It must be satire surely. 🤔 (TW though if you're looking it up)

The Wuthering Heights trailer... Is it just me or... does it not seem like Wuthering Heights at all?

The face of a very satisfied, very tired book nerd who has gone out vlogging for the day. 14,000 steps, 7 bookshops... Content to come soon! #booktube #bookvlog

Hear, hear!
Happy Monday, #booksky!

Shoutout to all the non problematic authors out there who stay out of readers' spaces, avoid genAI like the plague, and still keep their heads up despite the above getting most of the success.🥂

Now I see Superman reviews like this and I feel tempted! But tempted enough to make my way to the cinema...? Not as hot and bothered about Superman these days. Though I will say Lois and Clark should have tipped me off I was gonna be waving the bi flag
Been thinking about Superman A LOT!

What I liked most is that the film remembered that Superman isn’t about hitting people, he’s about saving them.

He’s a firefighter not an enforcer.

He’s about turning in a fight to check that bystanders are okay even as he tries to protect them. (1/3)

Just started watching the Mayfair Witches at random. Anyone gave it a watch? Is it worth continuing?

I've started doing daily workouts.
I have one goal.
Be able to do one blimmin' push-up. Just one.
No knee push-up. No wall push-up.
ONE FULL PUSH-UP.

Pray for me

I've become lightly obsessed with BBC's new 'docuseries' Walking with Dinosaurs. Though not proven, the idea of giant eyes on the frills of a Triceratops is just wild. www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/art...

This is a fantastic read from a wonderful author. I met Amal last August and she couldn't have been kinder 🙏
Apparently this deal is

1) on all month on Kindle
2) also on Kobo!

AI opinions clogging my feed... Working in marketing, I can see how quickly it is adopted. HOWEVER, I love creative writing and the entire process too much, from researching to nitpicking each word, to let AI get involved with my written works.

A little trip down memory lane to my first freelancing stint when I decided to do an impromptu photoshoot at home. Look at this glorious failure 😆

Me = sad 🥲 . @hayfestival.bsky.social just sounds like the dream to me . It's clashing with It's Strange Up North this year though and between client work and other commitments that's about the only weekend I could devote to it. A little tiny violin moment. 🎻
