The administration is vilifying the local cops in Portland who keep trying to work with them but won't make up statistics or arrest people who aren't breaking the law. The reason there are modest numbers of arrests, Noem suggests, is that the cops are in on it!

There are some things the Trump administration has done that weren't in Project 2025. But the public health stuff was laid out in detail. And they haven't even reached the bad parts yet. I'll never forgive the legacy media, centrists, and moderates who shrugged off concerns about Project 2025.

I wonder if it’s a calculation some are making— that GOP will continue to devolve, while their constituencies have a Pavlovian negative response to the word “Democrat,” so it’s time to go Independent. Principle and pragmatism could work together.
