Mass market paperbacks are my favorite format. They're small, easy to carry, fit into pockets and bags, and just easier to use if I don't want to read the ebook. I don't love the larger formats and I do like a break from screens.
The mass market paperback, light in the hand and on the wallet, once filled airport bookstores and supermarket media aisles. You may never buy a new one again.

Can't say it enough, if you are going to build ANYTHING, you are going to be criticized much more than you will be praised. Do not be deterred. Build what you want to exist. Find your people and seek their counsel. Keep it moving.

Letting illness run rampant in prisons is just one kind of genocide.
“Amalia had been healthy before immigration officers arrested her family… Amalia’s health quickly deteriorated [in Dilley]. On Jan. 18, she was rushed to a children’s hospital where doctors treated her for pneumonia, Covid-19, RSV and severe respiratory distress.”

My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.

The phrase "most racist" implies there have been other things that aren't quite as racist, but still pretty racist.
Sen. Tim Scott, the only Black Republican in the Senate, had this to say:

And here is an anti-ICE protest just outside of BYU

The masks aren't the cause of their violent behavior. The masks are the result of a system that has uplifted law enforcement despite their open radicalization to the right. Where we are politically with federal police is the result of a failure to take seriously the problem of police power.

This is one of the most important cases that galvanized Black people in the late 40s through the 1950s. Almost every major Black leader had a comment about it. It is also one of the most successful defense committees that was organized in the 20th century. Almost no one knows about it today.
On this day in 1948, an all-white jury sentenced a Black woman and two of her teenage sons to death for killing an armed white man in self-defense.

ICE now confirming that there is a measles outbreak at the Texas concentration camp where young Liam was held.
