Revisited this seminal bit of spaghetti superbness tonight. Probably one of the few trilogies in history where the sequels improve on each other…

#WesCraven's first major studio #movie #DeadlyFriend, released #OTD, bombed thanks to studio interference that changed it from a serious #scifi drama into a Krueger aping #horror

Deadly Friend: Krueger & the Near-Demise of Wes Craven
Wes Craven was never one to rest on his laurels. A creative force who twice redefined the slasher genre, he would earn a reputation as one of horror’s most innovative directors thanks to a se…

For those intrigued by Terror Vision’s recent Blu-ray announcement, @snipsmovies.bsky.social gave BLOOD SYMBOL (1992) a pretty thorough going over a few years ago at The Schlock Pit:

Love this movie! Saw it on TV when I was 10 with my family when it originally aired. Agree that it still holds up, and I prefer it over the remakes. Tim Curry’s performance still sends chills down my spine.
markayling.bsky.social
The newer versions don’t really improve on it all that much and I guess whether you prefer Bill or Tim as the dancing clown is really a matter of personal taste. The final big reveal still makes me wince a bit though. As it did in the newer one…

First thing I noticed and chuckled and I was like, must have been a thing back in 1990, but then I thought nah, that was never a thing. Ever.

My wife & I did the first half this morning and I agree it holds up – Cohen did a strong job making the structure work and Wallace got strong performances out of a strong cast
markayling.bsky.social
Yes I agree. It all hangs together very well and given I hadn’t watched it in full for years I was fully expecting it to be way creakier than it turned out to be. Great fun.

Enjoyed revisiting all three hours of this tonight. Holds up remarkably well. Was a personal VHS fave when I was a young lad. Tim Curry is a delight.

Peter Yates directs Robert Redford, in this fine and funny heist movie. William Goldman wrote the script. Quincy Jones composed the ridiculously good score. Quite the difficult film to get your mitts on these days… Thanks to @snipsmovies.bsky.social though, no fuss…

A calculated business move by director #MartinScorsese to get the studios back onside after a run of brilliant but unsuccessful #movies, pool shark drama #TheColorofMoney, released #OTD, still hits all the right notes

Here's a look at an #80s classic 👇

As ludicrous as it sounds but well worth your time, some of the #movie's murders are pricelessly OTT

Murder by Phone (1982)
The horror-through appliances sub-genre was all the rage back in the early 1980s. Once again Steven Spielberg was at the heart of it with Poltergeist, a wildly successful supernatural horror direct…

Easily the worst film I’ve seen this year so far… And yet, despite it’s unapologetic terribleness, I didn’t actually dislike it. I suspect there will be a mainstream film release that gets my back up more than this at some point…
