East Palo Alto settled a lawsuit challenging its “inclusionary zoning” policy, ruling out — for now — the possibility that a federal court might find it, and similar programs across the country, unconstitutional. bit.ly/4pgJj2k

We have a lot of work to do in East Palo Alto to meet the housing shortage caused by a generation of underinvestment in new housing supply. We must pivot away from a failed housing strategy and move towards one that meets the housing needs of today.
On the Front Lines of East Palo Alto's Housing Crisis
When I was running for office last year, I knocked on doors in every neighborhood of East Palo Alto. One of the most memorable conversations I had was with a Guatemalan woman in the Gardens. Her famil...

It would be a huge step forward for Democrats and for general clarity in political writing if these terms went away. These came mostly from academic hothouses.

“Inclusionary zoning” is one of those policies that sounds great at first but then when you look at the actual impact it ends up just being a massive tax on new apartments that exempts single family homes, accomplishing the exact opposite of the intended effect

East Palo Alto City Council has long prioritized community health as a goal of the city. As a Member of City Council, I will be proposing a pilot program where we spend ~$1M per year supporting East Palo Alto families by working with the YMCA to expand memberships.

FYI, East Palo Alto has a life expectancy between 75.8 - 81.3 years. I have recently seen people claiming that EPA has a life expectancy of 62 year, 20 years less than other cities in EPA. This data - which is on the city website - is not accurate.

Today, the House votes on whether to begin the process of gutting Medicaid, throwing millions off their health care & making it worse for those who remain.

Trump says he doesn’t want to cut Medicaid, but he’s letting the GOP push this. As usual, he’s lying.

All to pay for tax cuts for the rich.

Who cares if there is a project that can be built with 25% affordable if there are twenty others you've prevented by that preposterous requirement?

Unfunded inclusionary zoning is a tax on new housing that worsens the housing affordability crisis it purports to ameliorate and only "works" when market prices for housing are high above the actual cost of development. It's bad policy and we should stop doing it entirely.
