Whenever someone mentions Facebook/Meta, I'll always remember the article I read where an unnamed Meta software engineer is quoted as saying, "Fuck ethics, money is everything."
Imagine knowing your platform was a playground for predators, fueling teen depression, eating disorders, and suicide and deciding the best course of action was… absolutely nothing. Meta didn’t just “miss” anything.

I've never considered leaving the country because of Trump 2.0, but I'll move away if the Democrats get back in charge and don't immediately come down hard on these traitors and then start reforming the system to safeguard against a repeat because then they're just asking for this to happen again.

And that's one of the reasons why you want a good agent and gladly let them have their 15%--they know contracts and will keep you from selling your work for a handful of magic beans.
This is at least the fourth story I've seen of an author having to exchange multiple emails (over 20) with this publisher to get the contract language to not be rights grabby and it's one of three where the writer walked away.
