Good morning, #Toronto! I hope the traditional saying "pink sky in the morning, sailors take warning" is a cautionary tale for the #Mariners and a great sign for our #BlueJays! #ALCS #PostSeason #WantItAll #GoJaysGo!
This is a terrific thread about the fascinating history of #baseball in #Toronto. It’s amazing how long the game has been played here and how much it has part of the fabric of the city! Thank you for sharing it with us, Adam.

1. The history of baseball stadiums in Toronto goes back a century before the SkyDome opened.

With the Jays coming home for Game Six, I thought I'd share my old thread about it.

It begins all the way back in the 1800s with a place called the Toronto Baseball Grounds…
Is anyone else on shpilkes waiting for #ALCS Game 6 to start?

This day has been endless! #Toronto and the Rogers Centre need to rock tonight! #BlueJays #ForTheWin

#LetsGoBlueJays #WANTITALL #GoJaysGo #PostSeason
Wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Which may portend they choose a new chihuahua... I mean leader this fall. Probably one who's just as mouthy, smug, and nauseating as he is.

Happy Birthday José Bautista. He played in three rehab games for the 2016 #Bisons. The #BlueJays legend hit 344 home runs in 1,798 career major-league games.

Trump has functionally killed America's international broadcasting apparatus.

Russia and China are making up the difference.

if we still care about democracy and liberalism abroad, countries like Canada need to step up. www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
Justin Ling: Canada needs to make its voice heard around the world. Here’s one clear way to do that.
To create stronger connections internationally, Canada can’t rely on the United States. We need to use our own soft diplomacy tools

Ironically, as a blue Liberal, PM Carney isn't too far off from a PC. And he said he said he chose enter because PP was too divisive. The CPC practically defeated themselves.
Very true. I believed that Carney’s pragmatism was exactly what Canada needed at the time. PP was never going to be my choice and he continues to be increasingly divisive for his party. #cdnpoli
I too love many places & things about the US; music, books, art, architecture. But I’ve always been wary of their domination of culture in other countries incl Canada. My wariness has increased as it’s clear their political system & gov’t is flawed & dangerous to them & to us. Very sad.

I do love the US...or I did. I never wanted to BE the US and they're far from perfect (so is Canada), but some of my favourite people are American, some of my favourite memories are in the US.

When they re-elected the insurrectionist I thought maybe the US I knew (or thought I knew) was gone.
Thank you. 😊 GoJaysGo! ⚾️

Social Infrastructure at its best

“Good news, Toronto! 🎉

Starting October 19, all 100 library branches will be open year-round on Sundays from 12-5 pm (except on holiday weekends).

Find an open branch near you: tpl.ca/hours-locations “ - TPL

#CanadianLibraryMonth
Terrific news! The Toronto Public #Library is an essential service in #Toronto and its high circulation numbers and visits demonstrate that #TPL is greatly appreciated (actually loved) by Torontonians. Everyday openings makes it even more valuable! 📚

🇨🇦October 18 in Canadian History🇨🇦

👩 1929 - women are indeed “persons” under Canadian law, making them eligible to be appointed to the Senate. This overturned the earlier Supreme Court of Canada decision that the word “person” in the British North America Act did not include females.

“First, Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds — who was born in Canada…” kind of a weird way to say “Canadian” who is on the Canadian walk of fame and is an Officer of the Order of Canada? 🇨🇦

Let the Harper Cons fight.

They have NOTHING to offer Canada or Canadians

It really is, and has been ever since it joined up with Reform and became the Canadian Alliance. There used to be some “Red Torys” but not for a very long time. It has become an extreme right wing party and an embarrassment to Canada.
I wouldn’t be surprised at all. The decision to choose one of them would demonstrate the continued weakness of Conservative ideology and the talent pool. They are lightweights with no political acumen or skill, just a familiar surname. Pathetic. #cdnpoli
So true. The current iteration of the Conservative Party is as far from progressive as I could ever have believed possible. It’s hard to understand how their current leader has received so much much support. The party is degrading before our eyes.
