This is one of my favorite cosplay photos of all time, even if it barely shows the cosplay and I was absolutely freezing. Worth it for an incredibly evocative shot, though! I love Cairngorm and should do more of him

While the epoxy put it back together, the lines of the break are pretty stark even with sanding and painting them over, so I think the best course of action at this point is to remake the whole thing 🥲

My OCD is still something that I struggle with (for example, lizard hands from compulsive washing), but I’ve gotten a much better handle on it in recent years thanks to medication and therapy.

Today begins OCD Awareness Week, so I’d like to remind everyone that OCD is not something that is “quirky” or “charming”. It’s not simply eccentricities about perfectionism or cleanliness. It’s a real mental illness that can be terrifying and debilitating.

Exactly! My brain makes an association between the media and the people and then I can't stomach it anymore despite the media itself being fine. The definition of bad apples spoiling the bunch.

Here’s a closeup! The eyes are oven baked polymer clay with custom glass cabochon irises. The veins are wool, and they’re suspended with fishing wire. I also waterproofed them in case I want to add water to the canisters.

Since its Spooky Month, I decided to make a macabre photoshoot prop to go with my Kurapika cosplay that I plan to remake next year: the Scarlet Eyes!

A set of fake eyeballs suspended in glass canisters. The irises are a deep scarlet red.

Bits of things, big specialized things, tiny bags of hard to get things, drawers of tools just for the things, half-completed things, duplicates of things you ordered because you forgot you already had those things, SO MANY THINGS

What is “cringe”?

Honestly it depends who you ask, but it’s used to shame people for something they like or for being themselves. Saying something is cringe is positioned as maturity, being “too cool” and therefore employing bullying tactics to make others edit or reduce themselves into the mainstream or “normal”.

But that’s not what maturity is

Maturity is understanding that “normal” is relative. That sports and music are fandoms too. That bullying is a reflection of one’s own insecurities. Maturity is also understanding that constructing a persona to fit the mainstream is really just a sad waste of your very limited time on this Earth.

So be cringe.

Because life is too short for us to bully each other out of our passions and authentic self-expression.
