Hello, new followers! Something must have jumped up and bit y'all because it's popping off in here.

I don't post a bunch, and when I do, it's as likely to be about something silly as it is about resisting fascism. So that's what to expect.
It's lonely to be a Buc-ee's hater in Texas, but I'll say it: It's a bizarrely unpleasant place, and your "beaver nuggets" fund the Texas GOP.

Apparently there was a city meeting in Hutchins, Texas, tonight. Hutchins is the location of DHS's newly announced 10,000-person concentration camp. What I've been told is that city officials were unanimously and adamantly opposed to it.

Unfortunately, I'm seeing this nowhere online.

People who live elsewhere sometimes ask me, "Marrit, why is Texas so fucked?" And that's a perfectly cromulent question.

But when I say, "Wilks and Dunn," the answer doesn't satisfy them. They want to believe that we are uniquely stupid people, not a petrocracy.
If you don’t know who Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks are, you probably shouldn’t be analyzing Texas politics.

Congratulations to my friend and our newest State Senator from Tarrant County, Taylor Rehmet! I met Taylor years ago through labor organizing.

Don’t tell us what can’t be done in Texas. When we show up #TexasTough, we change the game. Today we proved what we’ve known all along: Texas is in play.

Every instance in which the Trump administration is forced to make changes, even cosmetic alterations like removing Bovine, is a good sign that US democracy is not yet dead.

Trump wants unchecked power. But public and political opinion still matters - and that should encourage resistance.

Okay...

Michael McCaul is my rep. And this is surprising.

I don't know if anything will change, and I'm not giving the dude any credit for being "troubled" by something that is obviously troubling.

But I am surprised to hear it from him.

Texas is a big place, but we need to activate our systems to find these people and help them get home.
People are being grabbed, sent to Texas, and put through 6+ hour long refugee status “reinterviews.” So far we aren’t aware of anyone who failed. Some even got handed a green card, then dumped onto the streets in Texas and told to find their way home.

Interrupting the sports seems like something good to do. Lots of eyeballs watching the sports.
I think we are getting close to the point at which the athletes on Minnesota professional sports teams should start refusing to take the field/court/ice

Something has to be done to underscore the national emergency we are in, because I still do not think corporate media gets it

The subtext here being "those dumb bitches thought we wouldn't shoot them"

we are raised to know we have the option of going along to get along--an option other people never had. but the promise of exemption from their violence was always conditional.

they can & will take it away for misbehaving.

The increasingly common habit of screenshotting the AI summary of a Google search and presenting it as evidence must be nipped in the bud immediately. That is nothing. That is not anything, it is not a thing.

I wish there were a group like @polls.pizza but they send pizza to #ICE watch events, and then the occupiers have to watch the neighbors eat delicious (and local) pizzas in front of them and not get any.
