It was #OTD in 1978, the greatest Thanksgiving television episode ever aired. “As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.”

Celebrating the 62nd anniversary weekend of one of my favorite-ever TV shows, #DoctorWho, reading the novelization of “An Unearthly Child” while drinking this otherworldly independent bottling of Teaninich 9, which like the Doctor is never cruel nor cowardly, never gives up and never gives in!

It doesn’t matter how much you exercise or how many veggies you eat when it comes to a pandemic.

These things will not stop it, and the shitbirds that Trump has installed in leading public health positions should be fired for even suggesting it would.

New — I wrote about the myriad ways journalism’s moral rot manifests, and how our crumbling institutions have created the conditions for it to fester:
Moral rot in elite journalism is killing the whole field
The Nuzzi/RFK Jr. mess and the revelation of Esptein's journo pals lay bare a profound moral absence at the heart of our free press.

It was #OTD in 1985 that Calvin and Hobbes, my all-time favorite strip, debuted in syndication. All these years later, it’s still a consistent, non-stop joy. Thanks Bill Waterson. Never-ending thanks. #calvinandhobbes

Nice to see #OreCup maintains the primary feature of #MineralCup, making me make TOUGH choices! I’m #TeamCopper so I win either way, but #Bornite is just so pretty, a true rainbow 🌈 rock, and it was named after Ignaz von Born, which makes me think of Ignatz Mouse! Of such things are votes made/cast.

#OreCup R1M4: This match is coming hot from a hydrothermal vein as #Carrollite competes with #Bornite. Both are copper ores with a beautiful tarnish. You have 24 hours to decide!

#TeamCopper is going to make it through this match no matter what, so I'm free to vote for the prettier #Bornite. #OreCup

Just hearing the news about Sir Patrick Stewart retiring from acting. So much brilliance. So many iconic roles, but if I had to pick one (and thankfully, I don’t!), I’d choose his one-man show of “A Christmas Carol.” It’s a heart-strengthening banger! #SirPatrickStewart

It’s almost time for the first ever #OreCup. I predict a solid run for molybdenite, but that’s because I just love saying and typing molybdenite! #OreCup2025
It's time to make your predictions (and help us test the voting site). Which ore mineral do you think will win?

Wait, Ohtani took the loss. Does that mean he’s, gasp, human?
October 29, 2025 at 3:13 AM
Don’t worry Dodger fans, there are nine more innings left to play tonight, right?
October 29, 2025 at 3:07 AM
I’m glad I’m a neutral here. Extra inning World Series games are thrilling and exhausting if you win, but gut-punches when you don’t.

I think it’s possible that Shohei Ohtani is maybe about as good as “El Maestro” Martín Dihigo. Not sure. Maybe the modern equivalent. Get into five Hall of Fames, and we’ll talk.

After watching this game tonight, I am left wondering if Ohtani is even the best Japanese player on the Dodgers at this point.

I kid. I kid. But wow, what a dominant performance from Yamamoto.
