Everything but gratitude is pathology
@pearz420 • 2y ago
I love how, even though you are speaking into a webcam while sitting in front of a computer, and not being paid, there's not a hint of cynicism in your lectures. I get to feel like a pupil even from so far away in time and space. God bless.

Why would I be cynical? I am nothing but grateful. I have been gifted with a vast collection of lucky breaks I did nothing to earn and an entire universe to think about.
I am not entitled to exist and I am grateful to exist at all, for whatever time is allotted.
Everything but gratitude is pathology.

Wowiee hilary mantel is a great writer
(Book: WOLF HALL by Hilary Mantel)

He has conferred with Arthur Lord Lisle, who will preside at the coronation banquet: Arthur Plantagenet, a gentle relic of a former age.
He is to go to Calais, directly this is over, to replace Lord Berners as Gov-ernor, and he, Cromwell, must brief him before he goes. Lisle has a long bony Plantagenet face, and he is tall like his father King Edward, who no doubt had many bastards, but none so distinguished as this elderly man, bending his creaky knee in obeisance before Boleyn's daughter. His wife, Honor, his second wife, is twenty years his junior, small and delicate, a toy wife. She wears tawny silk, coral bracelets with gold hearts, and an expression of vigilant dissatisfaction, bordering on the peevish. She looks him up and down. "I suppose you are Cromwell?" If a man spoke to you in that tone, you'd invite him to step outside and ask someone to hold your coat.

I am doomed to remember a boy with a wrecked voice — not because of his voice, or because he was the smallest person I ever knew, or even because he was the instrument of my mother’s death, but because he is the reason I believe in God; I am a Christian because of Owen Meany. DEAR THERESA,
I'm lying on my bed missing you, my eyes all swollen, hot tears running down my face. Congress has not authorized the use of military force.

I saw a tyrant sleep half the day away.

I said "this is calamity embodied; their sleep is for the best."

For whoever is less harmful asleep than awake,

so too is their death better than their life

Holy fuck, what a simile

Now Brereton comes in, with the russet velvet, sable-lined. Henry stands

up and sheds one layer of velvet, gains another, plusher and denser. The

sable lining creeps down over his hands, as if he were a monster-king, grow-

ing his own fur. "They buried him at Worcester," he says. "But it troubles
me. I never saw him dead."

Hey do you ever play a game like Hades and someone points out how much better it would play if you moved like special to a shoulder button and you're like yeah absolutely and then you never ever ever change it because that'd be weird

I saw a cop turn on his lights and speed very quickly through a traffic intersection, then immediately slow down and turn off his lights once he was through. I think he just wanted to cross the road without waiting for anyone
