Certainly the biggest combat shake-up since, well, the move from AC 2 to 3 ironically😅
IIRC 3 trimmed a lot of the more complex moves and the combat was pretty much what Arkham Asylum did, albeit with less visual panache.

It kind of moved further away from that tbh. The series had always relied on heavily scripted animation attack/enemy response sequences. Origins changed it to something much more open, a more typical "Welly whoever, whenever, wherever " traditional action game thing. It was a lot more fun.
