If they can cut off the software for no valid reason once, they can do it again. Take this as a wakeup call not to settle.
Adobe appears to have reversed course on this. Animate is safe, at least for the immediate future.

The only silver lining I can think of is that this is going to sink Adobe as a company. You are pissing off an entire industry that uses more than just this one program - do you really think we’re just gonna shrug off Animate and keep everything else? No bitch, you’re losing all of our money
