Well, zombies were the obvious answer here, but I thought it was about time for a tense political intrigue scene in Draw Steel. Day 9 of ##ttrpgpromptober! #promptober #drawsteel #thriller #montagechallenge
Draw Steel Promptober ‘25
Day #9: THRILLER
Infiltrate the Gala	Montage Challenge
The heroes must infiltrate a grand gala hosted by none other than their greatest enemy — or, at least, one of their politically oriented subordinates. While it would be foolish for either party to kick off a ballroom brawl, there’s no telling what secrets they might uncover behind closed doors...
Inspired by @fluttersprite. Rather than accumulating successes, the players must choose which Threats they want to negate and which Opportunities they want to claim before the two rounds are over. Players tackle Threats and Opportunities the same way they tackle challenges in a normal Montage Test.

THREATS
Attract Suspicion: The host automatically goes first in their next combat.
Remain beneath notice to keep your gracious host from suspecting an attack.
Hounded by Petty Scandal: -2 Renown among attendees.
Demonstrate your etiquette and good behavior to the gathered nobles to avoid the stale whiff of impropriety.
Lose a Duel: One hero loses 3 Recoveries.
Remember that War College graduate you humiliated in battle last week? They’re back and itching for a chance to prove themself with steel.
Psionic Viewfinders [x2]: The Director gains 3 Malice in your next combat encounter against the host.
Avoid, disable, mislead, or resist the psychic intrusions of the viewfinders strategically placed around the castle.

OPPORTUNITIES
Behind Closed Doors [x2]: Discover a key piece of intel about your host.
Search the castle, charm guests, pickpocket your host, do whatever it takes to learn what you need.
Earn Patronage: Recruit an artisan or sage follower.
Woo a noble’s favor, romantically or otherwise, and they’ll keep you replete with resources and lore.
Impress the Crowd: +1 Renown among attendees.
They’ll remember you, that’s for sure.
Sow Rumors [x2]: Remove one minion squad from your next combat encounter against the host.
I say! And then?! Oh, my!

I think it's at least as popular for generative ambient nonsense like this!

Way easier ways to make beats. :D

Draw Steel Censor vs Werewolf is fucking epic. The nastiest level 1 solo monster just shut down by God's Wrath!

It's gotta be tough, being the mute-brain. It needs a hug every once in a while.
mattcolville.bsky.social
I dunno if you know about this, but when it's late and I feel creeping dread, I remember this video and I imagine it's the mute-brain freaking out. So the language-brain says "There there, nothing to be afraid of" and gives the mute-brain a hug and everything settles down.

@hellomcdm.bsky.social's Draw Steel has finally arrived at my doorstep!

Orden is such an exciting, dynamic chunk of the Timescape and it's been incredible to be part of it.

I'm proud to be credited with the layout of these ambitious books, and excited to hold the completion of so much hard work.

Draw Steel's Monsters book open to the Radenwights chapter, where a dapper albino rodent in Renaissance garb wields a shining sword. On the opposite page, a full page illustration of a magic-working mouse-like figure.

I can do a lot with just Pam's, I can switch between two CV levels which will let me switch between the Guitar and Bass models on Surface. But for stuff like the strike, tone, and decay, I need more than two settings. I have a 4-step Ladik but I think it's too deep for this case.

I wan to stick a little sequencer in there to scrub through some of Surface's sweet spots but the 1U sequencers are sold out.

Test for recording my rack out in the field. Seems to work!

This isn't the final patch, still very much in progress.

Okay so— Draw Steel just showed up & I might’ve squee’d a little. 😅

I worked on this w/ the amazing MCDM team & now it’s HERE. In my hands. Looking all cinematic & deadly. ⚔️ RWAR!

I’m very lucky to be able to work on stuff that I love!

It was a major draw for me! I already know what Fripp's part sound like, but I had NO IDEA how Vai would tackle it.

I wonder if watching Steve Vai go out and do his take on Fripp's parts had any impact on them. Probably not! But it's going to be fun seeing someone interpret Neil's drum parts.

Modular requires a lot of patience. The signals don't know where they're going, so you need to spend a lot of time dialing in small, subtle changes. The more I patch, the more the modules talk to each other, the better things tend to sound.
