Donald Trump would not be president today if not for political violence. The persistent threat—sometimes subtle, but increasingly overt—is his main tool for bringing the Republican Party to heel.

So Trump, the pacifist president, is seeking to provoke a civil war as he is easily goaded into a foreign one.

Is it me, or did Trump’s parade look like it was produced by Wes Anderson? The glowering president, the strangely small-looking tanks making squeaky noises as they creep past empty bleachers. A staged, sad affair in which a grown man plays with his toys. I like the aesthetic but I doubt Trump does.
